I have a 2014 Beetle Fender edition and I am very disappointed with the failures which include the electronic door locks (both) which is caused by either a solder joint or the cheap little switch. Replacement costs $AU800 including labour. My boot latch failed which is because of an incredibly bad design where a plastic screen which is attached to a plastic cog breaks off. It is about a couple of millimetres in diameter, designed to fail. Cost $AU277 for the part only, common issue. I have had the radiator replaced as the plastic part became brittle, common issue. The radiator was fine but it all needs to be replaced. Total cost $AU1,039. Passenger door locks $AU595 each, common issue. Rear seat latch failed. Clutch failed (known DSG issue with the 7 speed gearbox), common issue. Speedometer inaccurate with the needle (digital fine). Couple of recalls due to issue with the rear wheel supports. All in all, the car is very nice to drive but the failures are very disappointing, particularly because they are caused by bad design such as the rear hatch lock. If the cog and shaft were made of metal it would not fail and if it had a manual override it would be even better.
