Hey there! I know this may be an older video but this really helped me out. I had a dead ecu with no communication whatsoever so I couldn’t even retrieve the information to adapt a new one. This worked. Extremely grateful for the video!

Back by popular demand, Automotive circuit boards! Hope you like. Btw that cut at about the 2 min mark was cutting out a long unneeded explanation of what that chip does. The TLDR of that chip is it interfaces the microcontroller with a few of the outputs of the ecu.
@SomeTeemo Жыл бұрын
Could have absolutely left it in I would've loved to know more about what the chip does! Is it JUST the immobilizer data or are there other elements? Great video though. Considering doing this with my a4 ecu that's going bad, just got IPC certified, might be a fun project.
@FixedUntilBroken Жыл бұрын
@@SomeTeemo I work at an iso9001/as9100 facility. All of our assemblers are IPC certified. (I am not because I am an engineering technician). Those assemblers can put my solder work to shame. I thought I was pretty good until I started working there. You can't tell the difference between the wave solder machine and the assembler rework for some of them.

Interesting video. We're having issues with a 2013 beetle and found out it has a Tricore ECU. Basically, it has a processor with the eeprom built in. It is a 176 pin CPU so swapping it out could be done but not for the faint of heart. A new battery turned out to be bad and never set any lights or codes till the car ran bad. then a bunch of sensors were reading odd. This happened after 2 weeks of driving on the new battery. The problems required a reset and a new battery. The dealer said we needed a new ECU. That's what took us in the ECU direction. Anyways, Folks, check to see what kind of eeprom is in the car to make sure you can move it.

I'm having an ecm issue. My car won't start only in the mornings. In the afternoon or evening, I have no issues. I have to disconnect my battery in the a.m. for a few minutes and it will start, but my tach, speedo, temp, and fuel gauges don't work. I'm thinking it's something to do with condensation, as I live in humid central FL. I'm getting engine codes UO146 and UO155. Anything I can try that you can think of? Did you get your fob's working ? what year is your car ? there is a certain procedure that you need to follow, however, if he only swopped the ecu, you may need to change the 'Body control module' or relearn the data from the older system and recode the BCM, post back a reply if you're still experiencing problems ? 🙂

@2doo5542 жыл бұрын
@@FixedUntilBroken I think this problem is caused by the ecu, not the mechanical part
@FixedUntilBroken2 жыл бұрын
@@2doo554 yeah but I'm saying I don't really know how it's supposed to work in the car. Mechanic says it's not doing x in the car I go trace that circuit and fix it. I don't actually need to know the normal operation of a part to fix it. Like for example ecu has no injector drive I'd look for the fets that drive that circuit and test them. In your case unless they are just 100% duty cycle on all the time than I'm not sure where to start. I'd imagine it's not supposed to inject without any cam/crank movement but again I don't really know what normal operation is for this but a vw mechanic would know.
