VW Vanagon Idle Circuit Board Repair - Easiest, cheapest way to fix the problem!

My VW Vanagon was idling high so I traced the problem to a burnt transistor in the idle control unit. I was able to source out a transistor and it worked. I'm not sure if the transistor is PNP or NPN, but the one that I bought was a PNP and it worked when I installed it. Just be sure to install it with the correct orientation. You will need a solder sucker desoldering pump to remove the old solder. The transistor is a NTE185.

I think you would it helpful if you first tinned you soldering iron. Makes the solder flow a lot quicker. Also, looks like you needed some solder wick to help remove the old solder. Thanks for the great heads up video. Cheers!

Secret is to heat the whole thing where you're working and the solder won't cool so fast that you cant remove multiple legs
