Does it have to be a peat pot or would a repurposed, plastic, black plant pot work?

It might work. It has to be big enough though or they won’t swarm in there.

Love the idea of using the straw to hold the cotton ball, going to start to use this, I will give you credit in my video that will be coming out next week. How many drops of lemongrass do you use? and with it being protected by the straw do you have to reapply as often if so how often? Great video

Big Bear Homestead probably 4 or 5 drops per trap. I normally put 2-3 cotton balls in a prescription bottle and just rip small pieces of that and what’s left I use to freshen the trap every couple weeks.

Did you ever catch anything in all these swarm traps?

DeerHunter I have not caught any swarms in them this year. I caught 5 in them last year and 17 the year before. Not sure what is different this year. If I catch one I will post a video update and show how I transfer them to a box. Thanks for watching.

Can i start bee keeping in the flower pot which is budget less and good for farmers instead of making traps

Bees will overfill they pot VERY quickly. In just a few days of not checking traps, they are full to the brim with wax.
