But I do see a lot of guys that think their cars or busses are worth a lot because they see one restored for a super high price. but the cost of restoring them is super high too. I remember when I could build a vw engine for $600 or even 300 in parts. Now 2 grand is about the bottom. For a big engine it can run as much as 8 grand or more just for dual carb engine. metal parts are super high price. hoods fenders used to be 20 bucks now they are 3 to 4 hundred.

yes It’s a Champagne Edition and that color is rare, Peach Red Metallic, around 200 made

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. Problem is China, China told our EU politicians that they wont do any business with underdeveloped countries that still allow CO2 emitting traffic after 2030...I am sure the UK also will be forced by China to 120% electric traffic because today no industrialized country can afford sanctions by China....:-(

little tip on the fuel injection. The injectors always plug up. they open with a small amount of voltage like 1 to 3 volts. We used to snap them with a 9 volt battery to get them to clean up. spray some carb spray and snap them with a little 9 volt battery. Dont hold it on for any amount of time or the injector will fry. just snap for a half second sometimes do it a few times. then it will click. spray some carb spray and use a 1.5 volt battery and spray through them. You can revive old injectors We did it all the time.

@@CapnTexan also remove and replace all the connections and just spray them with brake spray. If they are copper and corroded. I use tarn ex. but you gotta rince. it off. Most of the problems with old fuel injection are connections.

My daughters' 1st car was a Flintstone special (both pans rotted out). I replaced both pans in our parking space in military housing. Rewired the entire car with a painless wiring harness universal kit. Bought it with 2 full interior kits and both full pans for $275, got it put back together and ran it around for a while before selling it for $500.

@@VWLifeVW The reason I say, is because, you could use bot the trailer & the tow bar, this way like when you towed Ol Spot away, you could have gotten the awesome convertible, or make like some kind of dollies this way you can tow two cars, what happened to the Volkswagen Vanagon, that you guys saw, I believe it is a 1980 model that was abandoned or somebody just left it there, that would have been a perfect work truck,/ parts hauler, lot*s of space .

During the 80's and 90's, I used to cruise the neighborhoods of Hurst, Euless and Bedford looking for bugs in backyards and driveways. I happened upon a 67 in Euless with flat tires sitting in a driveway. I knocked on the door and talked to the lady of the house. She said she got the car in a divorce and she would be happy to see it gone. I think I may have paid her $300. Anyway, I put on tires and dragged it home. I spent a few weeks cleaning it up and getting the engine running, poorly but running and took it down to Ennis for a Bug In or Big Bug Shoot Out to sell it. At some point early in the day, before I actually sold the car, a man walked up and proceeded to tell me a story about how he had lost a bug just like this one in a divorce and he really missed it. I innocently asked where his wife lived as "I might be interested in buying it". He told me that she lived in Euless but that he had driven by a few days ago and it was gone. I commiserated with his loss, knowing that his bug was right in front of him. Later that day I sold the car for about $1200 or so. Every car has a story......

I think Vanagons are cool. Others may not, but I've had a couple of air cooled Vanagon Westys and they were great camping machines! Keep the VW motor in it if you can!

I have watched your channel for some time and I see you have an Astro tow truck. Have you ever had any problems concerning the trans boiling the fluid out while on the road. I have a Safari and would like to use it for pulling a trailer. I have owned 2 beetles and like them. My were 1956 and 1963.

I have towed VW's with Astro vans for over 30 years. Never had an issue, knock on wood. "D-White" the Astro Van is fixing to get some helper springs as the old leafs are just about wore out.

Hello, Wow ! I too was in Texas for many years(Houston) and in the VW scene way back in 1980. My first VW was a 67 Beetle and like spot. I still have my 1956 Oval Ragtop and a 1962 Split window Bus. My parts collection has passed the normal range and will be selling off some of it soon.(all 50's&60's) 40 plus years into V-dubs. It is not hording ! It's a passion.
