Enjoyed this video. Discovered it after you commented on Sarah-n-Tuned's video about her VW restoration. I'm the original owner and only driver of a 2004 GTI VR6, 24v, 2.8L, engine code BDF, 6-speed manual transmission code 02M. The car continues to be my daily driver for nearly 18 years. I only use OEM or OEM+ parts. No performance parts. No mods. Near the end of the year I want to park it in order to do extensive preventative maintenance. If VWs of this era are something you know a little bit about, I'm interested in any advice/tips you might have for me. I'm looking at a full suspension refresh. New control arms, ball joints, shocks, springs, strut tower bushings, sway bar bushings, and associated hardware. New wheel bearings, stub axels, axle beam bushings, and maybe replace the front axels. New engine mounts, transmission mount and dog bone. New radiator, fans, fan-switches, coolant hoses, coolant reservoir, thermostat & housing, temp sensor, and coolant pipe. Flush the heater core. New timing chain, guides, tensioners and associated hardware. Inspect and find a suspected leak in the secondary air system and replace necessary parts. New clutch. New belt and tensioner. Install a rebuilt alternator. New vacuum hoses. Clean the throttle body and intake manifold. Hire a pro to clean the fuel injectors. Inspect and possibly replace electrical wires for the ignition system. Coils and spark plugs were replaced ~10K miles ago. Drop the exhaust in order to gain access to the shift linkage and replace bushings linking the shifter to the linkage. Try and find a salvaged factor exhaust that's in good condition and install it or buy a new factor exhaust. Hesitant to install an aftermarket exhaust out of concern that passing emissions tests in CA might be challenging or impossible. What am I missing? By the way, almost all of this work will be my first time and I'm working alone. I have the Bentley Service Manual to guide me but it's not as thorough as I would prefer. This maintenance will be a big challenge because so much of it is a first time effort. Biggest concerns so far: proper installation/torque of the timing chain; also proper rigging of the transmission cable to the transmission. The car runs well. Currently has 155K miles. My concern is that all of the components mentioned have been pushed near their limit in terms of service life. After the refresh is complete, I want the car to continue being a reliable daily driver for the next 100K miles. I want to be able to drive it cross country without concerns. Your perspective would be appreciated.

That's odd, we used WW trim too and clips. The push in rubber grommets help. Do you have some of the old clips still? Sometimes they seem to have a better hold than new ones.
