So you can't launch without a hoist to fit the keel ?

The keel lift is connected to the mast and keeps the keel up while launching. It is independent from the boat hoisting sling. The keel remains one the boat, resting on its resting pad on the trailer. Fitting the keel requires a crane.

With boat hoisted, shim under the keel to get into slot for the first bit, instead of dropping boat from the hoist.... sigh...
