Yeah, the non-secret lowering screen is more a tell of something happening than anything. I'd have liked it more had it been flat behind it and not a Caco closet, because of that "empty room" paranoia it causes. Anyways, cheers for the first Caco cloud! There'll be a good number of those in the future for you to make rocket salad with 😜 Shout out to the music again. As far as combat-oriented midis go, Clonk here used to be my favourite from Essel. It's so energetic and bouncy and happy. ... and then I reached map22 and her soundtrack for it _blew my mind._ Now THAT is a good combat tune right there. You'll see.

I was looking forward to seeing if you were going to find that first plasma gun since it's a non-official secret. Definitely tricky to time things with the lift and the lowering wall to get into that alcove. Of course, the funny thing for me is that because I'm playing continuously and carrying the BFG with me, it's only good for a source of cells, since I follow Coin's philosophy: once you have the BFG, the plasma gun is forbidden. Also, I spotted my first instance of a mapping trick that gets broken in OpenGL: that lift that takes you down to the blue key fight. At the top of the lift, I noticed in your video that it shows the skybox, but that's not the case in Software. Looking forward to more!

My first memory of this map is always “oh, it’s THAT one with the plasma secret”. Then the MIDI kicks in and I’m too happy to care.

As for the small compartment you were confused about opening (near the supercharge). There is supposed to be a caco in there as a trap, you handled the fight a little differently than I. I knew the archvile spawned and rushed to kill it. You tend to hang out in that room to do it and the caco surprise attacks you from behind. I have no idea why you didn't have one in there or how it got out before you noticed it.

Please stoo worrying about the goddamn supercharge. It takes up too much time and is boring to watch. You will access it when you access it and not a moment before. Spending so much time trying to figure out how to access the supercharge drags the momentum to a crawl. Not to mention boring.

No. The point of a secret powerup is to make you stronger before an obvious big fight. Of course I'll spend some time trying to get it.

When playing blind, as Vytaan is in this series, working to access a visible powerup you don’t know how to get is a worthy use of a player’s time. As far as he was aware (I’m sure) it might have been gettable with some vigorous investigating. He wasn’t to know it was only available via the yellow key jump. Such is the way with blind playthroughs.

That was awesome! I adore this brief map by essel. The music is energetic and fun, and the traps are BEASTLY! There’s a monster blocking line at the arachno in the blue key area that can be exploited if you run there as soon as you drop down. Everyone gets jammed up and can’t get at you… but are still quite deadly lol. 😝 I’m absolutely LOVING this series by the way! I love seeing you work through these maps I know so well and working out the cheeky secrets. And boy do they get cheeky!

I don't get the popularity of Back to Saturn X - so much work went into it, it is really well made but completely forgettable. I tried to play it multiple times, both episodes and I've seen few people play it and I can't remember anything from it. At all. It's just filler.

FWIW, the supercharge secret in this map was a tad obscure for my liking. I did find it, but I think the BFG secret in the previous map was much better than this one. Again there are no rules on secret design and its a subjective topic based on opinion. I probably the the unpopular opinion that I dislike secrets in general for example. That is to say, if there are secrets and how they're implemented are no big deal but because we like to analyse things we tend to have an opinion on them that sometimes gets interpreted as harsh criticism. Pretty sure that's in a very general sense why Decino & yourself now play maps blind without the stats. That's a convoluted way of saying I really don't mind if and how secrets are implemented, I just have an opinion on what I like and at the end of the day it doesn't really matter.

Yeesh! That non-secret was rough! I don't remember the secrets on these, so I was just as confused. (Until Editaan gave it away.) That caco trap should have been a one-time trigger, unless the designer was deliberately trying to troll secret hunters. 🤷♂

I clearly sure there was a coop-only cyberdemon after red key also.. and there were no plasma "secret". So many changes i encountered already from version i played XD It makes watching even more interesting tho.

That plasma you uncovered is a really cool (non) secret that I had no idea about lol. That's one reason why I enjoy seeing other people play these maps, it's cool to see you approaching things in a way I never thought to and finding things I didn't know about!

I'm doing fine, how are you? I'll most likely play Episode 2 as well yeah, but maybe not directly after the first one. We'll see :D
