Bonei Olam Presents: Vezakeini, A Song for the Children
It’s a prayer of passion. Of feeling. And of yearning.
Vezakeini
A woman stands in front of the flickering candles on Erev Shabbos, slowly reciting the words, one by one, a prayer from her heart.
For her children.
For children she hasn’t merited yet, as she yearns to raise progeny of her own.
Or for the children she’s been blessed with, beseeching Hashem that they grow in the way of Torah.
This special prayer, recited every Friday evening across the globe, unite women from across the Jewish world, bringing together mothers and mothers-to-be iy”H in special harmony.
Celebrating this unity, Bonei Olam reached out to the best and brightest in the field of Jewish music to produce a song that would depict the special feelings of Vezakeini.
Watch, listen, and be inspired.
And stay tuned for Bonei Olam’s new forthcoming Vezakeini program.
LYRICS:
As I stand in candlelight
With my hands upon my eyes
There's a passion in my prayers
That rends the skies
For a mother's tears can shatter
Every gate that bars the way
All the heavens will echo those words that mothers say
וזכני וזכני
Take my children by the hand
Help them walk along Your way
May they never go astray
May they know You
As I know You
Oh, Hashem , accept my plea
Give me children who'll give nachas
To You and to me
וזכני
As I stand in candlelight
While my home is dark and still
There's a void inside my heart
I long to fill
Will I ever be mother
Will that blessing come my way
Will I stand by the candles
With gratitude and pray
וזכני וזכני
Take my children by the hand
Help them walk along Your way
May they never go astray
May they know You
As I know You
Oh, Hashem , accept my plea
Give me children who'll give nachas
To You and to me
וזכני
וזכני וזכני

I'm crying my eyes out because I heard this by chance in Spotify and today my son is in the hospital and I had the chance to see a lot of mother taking care of their lil babies with so much patience and kindness and as a mother myself ( H" bless me with 3 kids and H" took 2 of them) I heard this song again in the subway on my way home and my only child innthe hospital and I noticed how much I enjoy teach my son what I learn feom the Torah (I'm in my conversion process, officially, since February 2024) and his autism started to improved since I study Torah andntaught im about Tzedakah an Chessed. Today, we talked about what a blessing are our children because H" give us the chance to have them, because He see something on us! I pray to H" to bless all the jewish women and men, please H" bles them all with al the children they deserve and need and make that lil.children love Your Torah and Your Mitzvots

I'm 44 and a grandma, Baruch Hashem but my heart still yearns for the sound of little feet. My youngest doesn't know Hashem and doesn't want to. She's into witchcraft. It's sad but the Lord spoke a new name into my spirit in a dream for her, Haneem Habeeb. I know Habeeb is masculine but my heart yearns for her and her to know Adonai. The Salvation of Hashem is coming soon. Baruch Haba Bshem Adonai. But save my daughter Lord!

Thank You Benny and others with NY Boys Choir. Special appreciations for Chassidics Familia. February - March, I was hospitalised heavy stroke, shout down entire my body. Only brain power, mind, head receptors was working - body, total lack of movements. Today, is almost everything "like normal" functional body. I received from You special gift - the best "medicines" with out side effects. G-d blessing.

Absolutely wonderful video! To all the haters: if you don’t like how this was done u can take your sick disgusting hate somewhere else, no one is forcing you to watch. For the record: orthodox jewish women in general are probably the happiest women. Its a culture that respects women for being women, and doesn’t try making them men. And modesty is part of it all.

Magnificent song. So beautifully composed. Why all the bashing about women??? This song is very obviously done by the ultra orthodox for the ultra orthodox. The world is blessed to have communities that live by principle in today's morally corrupt world. Kudos to them for sticking to what they believe it right. I would think people understand that being 'open minded' includes respecting ALL ways of life - and this is no different!! This song is a masterpiece that is so very beautifully presented while maintaining their higher standard of modesty. Keep it up!

In response to those who protest the absence of women in the video: Allow me to speak behalf of tens of thousands of Jewish women who choose to influence family, society and history with wisdom, diplomacy and discretion. We don't desire or need public exposure and we view modesty as a privilege, not a burden. This is our choice- please respect it. Miriam Israeli Lyricist, composer and singer

What you have said is beautiful and I greatly respect your convictions. And so I scrolled down to see what you were talking about and was amazed at some of the rude comments, made by what appears to be Yehudim. I can only say that people who don't love themselves and don't love their lives, go out of their way to insult others. That is unfortunate. This is a very beautiful and touching song, and I love it. Very talented singers, with a beautiful video.

I understand why ppl are upset but the hate is completely misguided. Bonei olam is not standardizing anything! The ultra orthodox guidelines have been standardized long ago. They were just adhering to it, as it is obviously mostly catered to them. If they would show faces of women they would be offending their sensibilities, as odd as it may seem to others.

@@EdGloss Okay, so you're just a kofer be'ikar. You shouldn't talk about Halacha if you don't even believe it is valid. If you're not interested in the World to Come, at least enjoy Olam Haba as innocently as possible... find yourself something better to do.

@@hannal8611 Kofer be'ikar? Absolutely. Faith is stupid, god isn't real and halacha based on the existence of a magical being makes the world worse.

Didn't anyone notice that all the women are purposely censored? It's too bad Bonei Olam has to resort to this. In their need to pander to the extreme wing in orthodoxy, they are helping make this stringency an accepted norm.

@@JewishLife In this case, the ends don't justify the means. It's a dangerous stringency that is oozing its way into Judaism. Bonei Olam and those responsible for the production should not be part of it.

@JewishLife you don't notice when half the population is missing? You know women are people too, right?

@@TheAussiePencil of course they are people, and they are our precious treasures, but we are religious jews and more so, bonei olam represents 100% Orthodox Jews, and we follow the guidance and traditions of our ancestors,

@@JewishLife that doesn't answer my point. Look at these comments, look at all the women who deserve to be seen and heard, who are sick of being repressed by people like you. Are you honestly telling me that you know what's best for them, that you have the right to tell them what to do? That their views don't matter? Also, I'm Orthodox and you absolutely do not represent me.
