missed the biggest issue in roofing is really the liability if a misclassified 1099 employee - which 99% of all roofing salespeople are gets hurt. If and when they're injured, if they dont have their own General, vehicle and most important worker;s comp or approved workers comp waiver. as the business owner you're absolutely screwed. The 1099 person gets injured, theya re going to sue you and their attorney will certainly be able to prove you've misclassified the person as 1099 and not as W2 employee. Depending on how bad the injury is you can have to pay the bill for all of their injury, up to and including paying them wages for the rest if their life if they claim they can never work again. horrible idea to put anyone on as 1099. You business general liability DOES NOT cover employee injury!

If a company demands or insists that you have bi-weekly meetings and insist you also go to full company meetings. Can they get away with it if they label you as 1099?
