As Taiwanese female living in Canada, I think what Lucas mentioned about “western culture” is quite limited to Swedish or Scandinavia culture, which focus a lot more on individualism and independence compared to Asian culture as a whole. The expectations on dates from women you mentioned were not only in Taiwan. I’ve seen loads of Canadians women or women from different countries having the same expectations. It doesn’t mean those expectations are good but I just want to call out that it’s unfair to say it’s solely from Taiwanese women. I am living with my Canadian partner and he’s very sweet and always wants to take care of me. But I’d never expect him to carry my bag or anything, and I like to care for him too. In a loving relationship, it’s normal for both sides to take care of each other.
Hi, interesting video as usual. I wish the best for the both of you as your relationship continues to grow. There was a question in the video specifically for Lukas on how dating women in Taiwan is different from women in Europe. I'd like to ask a similar question for Minthia: how is dating men from Europe different from men in Taiwan? Also, are there foods in Taiwan that either of you would not touch (stinky tofu, for example) and foods that you wish you could have in Taiwan? (Noting that this is the only English comment here is not lost on me. :P )

Thank you for your comment. First of all Lukas is my first / last😂 European I’ve dated. Let me just share my limited point of view from the biggest difference of dating Swedish and Taiwanese: I feel Taiwanese guy would want to take care of girl and Swedish guy would treat girl more equal. It isn’t better or worst i feel it depends on what does the girl want in the relationship. Im quite independent and don’t like people tell me what to do so i feel Taiwanese guy wouldn’t give me the space to be myself sometimes but it’s nice to be taken care of by the other half too. If i see it from stereotype Taiwanese guys are actually more romantic in the way they would spoil their girlfriend and celebrate anniversary, Swedish guys are more about efficient and realistic in some ways. After all I think Lukas is a perfect mix with Swedish and Taiwanese❤️He has lived in Taiwan long enough to understand my culture and keeps his good Swedish qualities at the same time. For the second question, I don’t enjoy stinky tofu and organs. I think Taiwan has huge varieties of foods and we can get most of the western things here.
