He isn´t always making wrong choices, on the contrary, he has won many battles by his wits, He loses just enough to make an interesting story. He doesn´t evolve his pkmn, in the same way he releases some of them, depending on what they want, because he´s always worried about his pkmn bliss... maybe sometimes he makes some things difficult to conceive, but that doesn´t mean that he is pathetic or a mediocre trainer. Remember it´s just an anime, with some illogical issues because it´s fictional.

I remember an episode where he explained that he uses the Pikachu´s thunderbolt against a Ground-type not because he expect to generate damage on the opponent, but with the intent to arouse the Pikachu´s fighting spirit, just like an encouragement

yea... some things you said are right, sometimes he uses understandable and awesome strategies too, but... I get your point. No matter that, he´s still a good trainer, he loves his pokémon, his pokémon loves him, they´re happy and fight sometimes over their limits for him, and he´s a good, or better, excellent hero, at least I see him that way along the series. Maybe he´s not the BEST trainer ever yet, but I think he can achieve that, cause his potential, that makes it interesting.

I believe that Red still exists somewhere in the anime pokemon universe and he's the one that got the Charmander on the day that Ash got Pikachu, since Gary got Squirtle and it has that advantage over Charmander.

ash was ok in the season one.afterwards...no.it's like they have him running in circles until they're ready to use him again.they could use the other main characters.but they don't.they want to continue using ash even though he's going nowhere.to me ash is like a guinea pig running on a wheel.waiting for his masters to use him again

That's Pikachu the one who breaks ground with Thunderbolt, not Ash. And Ash has accomplished a big amount of stuff throughout the series. Not that he is an amazingly great Trainer anyway.

@Richardlikespies well, not exactly.... it opens up team plasma right out of the blue. unlike most of the other games. ruby and saphire had somewhat the same kind. when you went into petalburg woods, a guy from team magma/aqua randomly tries to rob him, but at first, you didnt know. in blk and white, it was pretty stupid of a storyline. i'm not complaining but it needed quite abit of work. the best pokemon story games were pokemon colleseum and XD:gale of darkness. unlike most, it had a sequel

First of all, in my thought, it makes no sense how ELECTRICITY can break ground. Now, I've seen the anime before and have roughly seen about as many episodes as in the high 30s, so I don't think I've seen that and I might be getting the wrong thought here, and please don't be afraid to correct me. Simply in my mind though, I cannot grasp the thought of that happening

i used to be a pokemon anime fan until i took a dawn to the knee. in all joking aside, i stopped watching pokemon after the hoen saga ended. and skiped sinnoh. i saw a bit of the begining of black and white, but just stopped after elisa. only other episode i watched was the episode his tepig evolved into a pignite only because the "antagonist" of the time was voiced by jun fukuyama who voiced lelouch from code geass. now i only watch the series cause a legendary is following ash
