This is a great revenge-plot story with really good actors and a different storyline, focused on revenge. I loved this strong/shrewd/adamant FL and supporting/clever/nice ML. I liked how the story was paced, the retribution and the way the ending was constructed. The glimpse into the future was a rare treat (thx to the writers). If you love a good revenge-story this is definitely worth watching. SYNOPSIS - SPOILER ALERT!!! In ancient times, the 3rd and 4th concubines of the Qin mansion had evil intentions towards FL and her mother, the 1st wife, so FL’s mother decided to make a run for it. But during the chase they are caught and her mother forced to sign a paper saying she has committed adultery in order to save her daughter. But FL is pushed over the edge of a cliff anyway. When she manages to climb up, she witnesses her mother being buried alive before losing consciousness. The next day, FL wakes up, too late to save her mother and when she enters the mansion, the two concubines have already convinced her father of the adultery and an alleged suicide. So telling the father the truth proves to be in vain. Actually, she ends up being sent in confinement outside the mansion for 3 years. A place of re-education, rumored to be Hell on Earth. When the evil concubines return 3 years later, expecting to collect a broken woman, they get a big surprise. So, they start their scheming right away, but this FL is not going to let herself be bullied and the Crown Prince who is just ascending the throne might be just the right ally for her. Well, not spoiling too much, this has a very happy ending.

I agree with what this female lead told that evil woman in that prison scene. How does that woman think her son got to be like that. It's because of her. She raised him to believe and think like she does. If she wants him to be successful and live a good life, let him go. As she said, let him go to an academy or somewhere where he can learn to be independent and stand on his own 2 feet. Maybe meet someone and start his own family one day. He can't do that if he's always by her side and being influenced by her. Also, I feel bad for the female lead's father. He has all these evil women around him. His daughter is trying to help and protect him and their family but... poor guy.

❤❤❤ I love that this drama didn’t have a lot of abuse from the men… just a lot of scheming on the womens part… the women must have had a hard life back then… sharing your husband with others, fearing that once you lose favour you also lose the respect of family and even some of the servants… I don’t think the saying “you have a choice” existed for women in those days 😢
