Some info in this documentary really wrong n made me 😃. Such as, the BIG CIRCLE BOYS, BCB name not from the circular high way around Guangzhou. Well hong kongers first called these crossed border criminals from main land China, Guangzhou even not modernized yet, no high ways at all in late 70s, early 80s. The BCB name from slang of hong kong distinguished this new wave of criminals from the locals triads, because they are from mainland, in Chinese called 大陸,n the guys so called 大陸仔。 n these criminals always gather together to robbery, rather to associate with local criminals. In Chinese press, used to put a circle to hide some words in description while thought was not appropriate to print the whole names. 大陸仔,then being called 大O仔。 N these people also thought that calling them大陸仔 mainland guys are a quite discriminate term back then. So they self proclaimed themselves as 大O仔(big circle boys) instead. Also most of the BCB not speak in Cantonese. Although they crossed borders to hong kong from Guangdong province which is where Guangzhou located nearby. Somehow they are from Northern provinces in China, mostly Hubei. They generally speak puitonghua (main land Chinese mandarin) or their local dialects.

Big Circle Boys are multi-ethniclingual, some are Cantonese speaking, some are Zhuang speaking related to Laotian and Thai, some are Hoklo speaking related to Taiwanese and Fujian, and some are from Hunan who speak various Hunanese languages and Hakka and Jiangxi languages.
