i have been driving truck for 14 years so I can tell you more realistic aspect of this line of work. my weekly pay for a US major carrier is around 1300 after tax (72000 US a year). I work 5 days a week and 2 days off. The best way to do this is to drive for a delicate account which means you do the same things every week. OTR is too hard and not worth your time, unless you are single with no kid. In addition, many rookie drivers got in accidents because they will be sent to big cities to make deliveries where years of experience is required. I should be able to make 100,000 US this year, but no Sat. Sunday off, still a 5 days work week + lot of bonuses. I am not sure if you can get a green card by driving a truck in Canada. I doubt it.
