W & S Butcher (2022)

A film of an online lecture about one of Sheffield's most famous and prolific blade manufacturers in the 19th and 20th centuries. The expansion of the W & S Butcher brand is outlined and its especial impact on the North American market . The lecture was originally given by Nick Duggan on 16 March 2022.
The specific focus on quality meant the firm's razors were much sought after and have indeed remained as much sought after collector's items even today. Their legacy is still enshrined in the now restored Butcher Works providing new offices, shops and apartments.
The film was developed as part of the Name on the Knife Blade Project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Thanks so much. This is such scarce and valuable information . It is more relevant than some may think in a world that could soon, by necessity, be forced to go “green”. Historical knowledge makes it unnecessary to have to “reinvent the wheel”.
