And again, I find it interesting that comments about GEM's song being mediocre this week don't get attacked like comments about Pin Guan's songs being mediocre. Clearly the people who comment here are mostly from Malaysia and are biased towards singers from their own country. Makes me feel kind of bitter and wronged. This is just my opinion but for people who are saying that she needs to learn how to sing from high to low variation in this song, I think you guys need to realize that most people perceive singers who can sing and dance, usually don`t sing as high or run out of breath while singing. As a result most people tend to believe that person can`t sing. I believe that GEM is just trying to prove that she can dance and sing at a very high pitch without losing her breath. I think she is trying to prove to people that she is not trying to use her dance to cover up her vocal ability but that she can do both because she has the ability to do so and that no one should doubt her of her abilities. I`m pretty sure GEM can sing from high to low variation but since this is a competition and she is a singer coming from Hong Kong, I believe that she is just trying to put more effort going over 100% and constantly displaying high notes to show the mainland audience that she definitely can sing and that she can do this more than once. Besides GEM can sing from low to high variation, she`s just not displaying it in this competition. Go and watch her Someday I`ll Fly Live performance, she does sing with emotion there and display the low to high variation singing ability there.

GEM was covering a cover song. She did the Xtina Aquilera version almost note for note, but couldn't bring in the really high notes that Christina can. This is a Patty LaBelle song from the 1970's so hearing another pop singer cover it is just KTV to me. GEM is getting smashed by Shila now, she needs to bring her level up again. Hard for me to say, I am a massive GEM fan. She needs to get back in the Mandopop groove again and stay away from the English covers.

You seems to conflict yourself. So if GEM did not bring the high note is it still note-to-note? Your explanation sounds like you are the only one who listens to English song. Buddy I am in North America and have listened to both versions. Obviously the arrangement is a bit different taking into the account of dancing. GEM has a purpose for every performance to show case her all arounded talent. Keep in mind she was very sick during that day and if she haf done much high notes again people start picking on her using it too often.

Dont think GEM is smashed by Shila. Shila is jut new to the show and people are getting excited for new face. Plus the show and media just highly regarded her to create some kind of competency between her and GEM. Just pure drama. I have listened to Shila other performances. They are good but of the same style. No dynamic and need to work on her ranges. She lowered the key of most big songs she took up. I bet next episode when she sings listen she will do it again. No way she can use same key as Beyonce. Shila does not really know Chinese so there is no soul. She cant even remember the name of the song. From your commemt I can tell you either are a fan of Shila or really dislike GEM. Dont try to act like objective when u are actually biased. I am a fan of GEM and dont think any other in the game is in same league with her. This show is rigged. At the end of the day Shila is just being used to decrease GEM popularity to promote the other Chinese singers that have contracts with the TV station.

Her vocal chords broke up at the end belting because she was sick for almost 2 weeks and had so much to do, for instance, she had a concert somewhere in Fuoshan last week. Believe it or not, if there were somebody singing this type of song in public two decades ago in domestic china, a high chance s/he will go to jail right away. Younger audience most likely would give her a vote, but not the seniors. I bet that is one of the reasons GEM didn't take the top 1 eventually.

It doesn't mean what place she is this week. GEM already proof how talent she is, cos the others singers has only show theirs skills of singing in their performance. This is not a singing competition is A Singer competition. My opinion a singer should at least have a good voice and skill to sing. How to performers so many different songs type without bore or bad GEM is so far is only one. In every episode of GEM performance she never let's me down. GEM keep it up don't let's your confident go down, because the stupid competition in "I AM A SINGER 2" Beside you have already mark in lot's of people heart that you are a singer for sure. Keep it up one of your new fans since your " I AM A SINGER 2" love your others song before, because the THE VOICE 2 MAG LAM sang one of your songs. But after this I AM A SINGER 2 you show how good you are

This song originally sung by Labelle (Patti Labelle lead singer) has also been sung by Christina Aguilera. On a level playing field G.E.M's Voice and artistic talent are right up there with Christina A. and a number of other great singers. This song is extremely hard that only very few artists try. My applause for a powerful fantastic performance.
