Grandmaster 劉雲樵Liu Yun-Qiao was on a mission to preserve authentic and quality traditional Chinese martial arts. He was close friends with some of the biggest martial art grandmasters. He exchanged disciples with some of the top LongFist, Chen Taiji, XingYi, LiuHe Mantis masters, with the goal to being various styles of TCMA into WuTan and preserve and pass on to the next generations.
Most people have seen the praying mantis version of the “小虎燕XiaoHuYen” (Little Tiger Swallow) form, but this is a rarely seen Long Fist version of the XiaoHuYen passed down from grandmaster 韓慶堂Han Qing-Tang’s lineage.

Question sir, what is the application for the jumping spinning crescent kick in this context?

A good form can have many purposes, as the name of the form suggests, one is trained to be agile and light as a swallow bird, and be as heavy and grounded like a crouching tiger. In which, just by training to achieve that from doing the form is beneficial in general combat sense. Application wise, a crescent kick can be used to kick from an arm length distance out of no where, comes a face slap kick from the left at the jaw. A jumping spinning one has the same intent but from a bit further distance to close in quickly to deliver that face slap kick. With the jumping spinning version. There’s a fake kick that before the actual kick. Serves as a defense while closing in while in mid air. TKD has quite a bit of similar kicks like this.

2 ways in my experience: 1. The combative way. You can use this kick as a combo finisher i.e. jab, cross, right roundhouse kick, then this kick, or use your knee to block a low kick while jumping and then kicking with the other leg to the head. It also helps if someone catches your other leg i.e. you teep in Muay Thai and the opponent catches your leg, so you jump off your grounded leg, swing the captured leg down, and land on your now free leg while the leg you jumped off with is a kick to the head. 2. The non-combative way. Like Master Mei says below, this kick trains the ability of your waist to swing into a kick and that you have sufficient flexibility, core strength, and verticality to be able to slap your foot with your hand while you kick, especially from a grounded position (in this case, the Mabu).
