The biggest problem in AI arts is the theft. Artists got their works fed to AI without any permission. A recent example would be Sam Does Arts. He’s a digital artist with a somewhat great fame on Twitter. A few months ago, an artwork with a style of his went viral. However, he has never drawn that piece. Turns out, somebody fed his work to an AI, to generate works in his style. The issue is that Sam has never given any permission to have his work given to AIs. He immediately asked that somebody to remove the post, yet he was ignored. Sam is not the only victim. I’m not trying to say all AI users are evil but too many artists got their work stolen. The main problem generated from this is the receded income. Online artists don’t have much to begin with. What they are earning now usually hardly provides for them. The effort they put in seldom gives an equal amount of money. With AIs entering their line of work, there’s a further reduction to their commissions (hence a reduced earning). Let us not forget that artists are human too and therefore have a cost of living. What we should do now is to set a clear line, rather than cancelling AIs. We must set a healthy and apparent boundaries between programmers and prompt-users so that artists’ work will not get stolen. - sincerely, a small artist.
