W123 Mercedes Benz Steering Box Rebuild.

Disassembly - Assembly
This rebuild should be done when there is any gap in the box.
Usually, sealing equipment and balls wear out and must be replaced with new ones.

Great video, I managed to rebuild the steering box on my 1985 500SL which closely resemble the one one your video. I managed to completely take mine apart and put back together using your video.......thanks a ton....RV

I think you missed to add small oring under the bigger shaft cover. At least I miss it in this video.

By replacing the ball bearings, does it eliminate the play in the steering box?

Hello, I have done more or less the same job on the steering box of a Mercedes T1 van with power steering, we have already adjusted the play of the steering wheel but I have a problem now, with the engine stopped and wheels in the air I notice that the steering is harder turning to the right than to the left, in another video they say that you should act on the oil distributor of the same steering box, but I don't know which one it is and I don't know what to do either... I need the van Urgent for a trip and we are desperate. Thank you very much friend.

Where did you get the rebuild parts? My box on my w116 is fairly worn. I am contemplating rebuilding it. However I can only find seal kits, no rebuild kits.

The parts inside a box had a good condition. I changed only seal kit and small ball which is inside.

You can also buy them new from Mercedes-Benz as well for I think it’s $700-800 I forget exactly
