A few days before filming this the car has undergone an engine swap from OM603.912 (3.0 NA) to OM603.960 (3.0 Turbo). That's why it was missing the mufflers. Now it has a straight pipe exhaust, so still loud but not as much.

OM606 is a modernized version of OM603 which was fitted into the post-facelift W124 models (NA variant 1993-1996) and W210 (turbo charged variant). OM606 has 24 valves (vs 12 in OM603) and beefier internals.

Have you driven this gearbox hard? Mine is an automatic one, and I want Manual 5 speed. Do you think that is much work?

+Christoffer Bergland I'm driving it hard most of the time and so far I have no problems at all with gearbox or clutch. I'm not sure how much work would it be to swap from automatic to manual, because I had this gearbox in the car the whole time, I've just swaped the engine from 3.0 NA to 3.0 Turbo. You would have to get a manual gearbox, flywheel, clutch, pedals assembly and gear lever assembly from manual... Differential ratio is probably different... speedo cable may also be different.. Well I think it would be best to find a donor w124 with a 3.0D + 5 speed manual and take everything you need from it.

TDIMAXDIESEL I forgot to write it down and now i have transmission cover back on and it's impossible to see the number. The car is from 1991 and it orginally had OM603 NA engine - that's where transmission came from. According to this website it should be a 717.433 gearbox: mbspecialist.com/mercedes_modelinfo/124/5/130/ Good luck!
