w124 Mercedes trunk latch and lock removal. 1986 Mercedes 300E

The easy way to remove the trunk latch and lock assembly from a W124 Mercedes chassis. You can remove the assembly without pulling the latch off the lock, but it's not easy. I didn't know they came apart and removed the entire thing together, then used a punch to separate them on the bench. They were quite stiff together, but should come apart while in the car. maybe using wooden blocks to support the latch by the upper two bolt ears and tapping down on the upper pins.
