£5 mil for scaffold is probably not even close. And yes they definitely had all sorts of stakeholders which raised numerous concerns. Also a lot of the stuff had to be repaired/remade using traditional techniques adding to the cost due to the availability of labour

No joke, I've been to London 3 times now, every time I see Big Ben it takes my breath away. It really is a magestic piece of art in my opinion. I can't help but stare at it and admire all the details.

@erosion271 Yeah, I went a couple of weeks back and thought, holy hell that is one blinged up clock. Love it! Especially when the entire area is rammed with tourists. We can’t have the Chinese going home and laughing with their grandparents at how shoddy England looks.

@erosion271 Excuse me? Where did I write that England looked shoddy? I said we don’t want them to think it looks shoddy. Big difference buddy. And I said this because having lived and worked in tourism all over the world in 11 different countries, I know Chinese culture well. When they travel young, they are on a literal mission to collect photos to show their grandparents when they return home. This is why they wake up early in the morning and treat the day like a work schedule. I suggest you put your books down and get out more.
