I have a 2020 W. Pretty much everything you said is right on - there is naked bike wind buffeting, 360 degree twin vibration, no gear indicator (really though, they are for girls), plus it is heavy as it is made of metal vs plastic and it has no throttle by wire, ride modes, traction control , usb ports or other modern tech. In other words, it's the perfect motorcycle!

The tank is good for 300 kilometers, the low fuel light comes on at 200 though.

I don't care much about a gear indicator, but a fuel indicator would be great.

Indeed, a fuel indicator is always handy! But I can imagine that a beginner would also find it handy to know what gear he/she is in 😀

@@2WheelTalk For beginners I think it's good to learn to know what gear you are in without a gear indicator. I always kept in mind what gear I was in. Now I ride a scooter, so I don't have to think about it.

I rode the W800 a week ago. It vibrates everywhere and at all rpms. Between 3-4K rpm is even worse. Do not waste your money, there are much better choices out there.

Hey Goru, we did notice that too, but we thought it just added to the oldschool and authentic experience of the bike😉

@@2WheelTalk I know a local person who returned his W800 after only 218 miles on the odometer because of the never ending vibrations. It was a 2022 model, that is the bike I rode and it made me rethink my opinion about the W800. Engine character is good, constant vibration at all contact points is not good.
@2WheelTalk

Goru, we can understand that after long rides this can become a bit of a problem for some riders. We unfortunately couldn't ride the bike for too long so we didn't really see it as a problem. Thank you for opening this discussion. This is what our channel is all about. Sharing our opinions and thoughts about our shared passion.

Vibration is pretty serious 3k to 4k rpm or 50mph to 70mph in 5th gear. I mostly cruise back roads and the hefty low end torque makes this a great lower speed bike. It's runs comfortably at 2k in 5th and has plenty of power to accelerate. Highway, need to go 72mph.
@volkerw88
@volkerw88 Ай бұрын
That’s true - but normally you cruise with lower rpm than that, as the engine has quite a lot of low end torque - imo it isn’t that bad when only accelerating through the rev range.

125 miles, are you having a laugh? I get 180-200 from mine; the low fuel light which is ultra conservative comes on @ 150-160 miles. 62-70 mpg (imperial) after 3k miles in 6 mths Otherwise a fair summary.

Thanks for the feedback Simon! Unfortunately, we only had this bike for a couple of hours during our test drive, so we had to base our findings on that short trip. We will definitely try to be more accurate in our upcoming videos. 😁

yeah, not sure why it's so overpriced cause it's really simple bike. Planning to buy one but price doesn't make sense...

Hey robsonenduro3316, thank you for your comment. It is indeed not the cheapest bike on the market for this category. We would however definitely recommend you doing a testride with it if you haven't already. Maybe it will be worth the price for you. Be sure to let us know if you bought one or what you think of it!

The W series are built in relatively lo quantities and there are barely equal parts with other Kawasaki models. I think, that K. has no longer a facility for sheet metal processing. They dont need it for any other model. They have to buy it in low quantities from suppliers. The engine with the bevel drive is at least as expensive as any 4-cylinder with chain driven cams. Spoke wheels, classic clocks, chrome plating on fenders exhaust and small parts. For example: BMW in Germany has no facility unit for chrome plating since the 1980s.

Always wondered why this bike doesn’t sell more? Could this be why? 1) no gear indicator 2) no fuel gauge 3) lots of vibrations (allegedly) 4) low power for the size of engine 5) hefty price compared to competitors Personally I don’t care about getting big power. For the weight and type of bike that it is, 47 hp is enough. Price is more subjective than anything else. People pay more for a Triumph Street Twin but to me this is a more special looking bike and stands on its own rather than being an offshoot or entry level modern retro. So that’s another thing I can live with. As for the vibrations, I had a 1200cc Bonny which vibrated so much through the footpegs that I tended to avoid cruising on the highway. After a while I got used to it. The gears? Well, there are only 5 of them to count. No big deal. So I can live with all of these but for the love of God, give me a fuel indicator. We live busy lives and I don’t have the time for guess work or constant panic stops at the gas station. What were Kawasaki thinking? Surely this is the most basic of requirements and is available on their other bikes? They don’t help themselves. Advantage, competition - and that includes the Street Twin!

the bike has a low fuel indicator and you have 3 to 4 liters of reserve when it goes on. not a big deal for me. In the USA the bike can usually be found one year old for $7,000 USD - they don’t sell well in the US and Kawa does not really promote them. They’d rather sell you a Z900RS.

the engine power is good for this bike . it’s a high torque engine and pulls great at low RPM. you can cruise in 5th at 2000 RPM and accelerate fine. it’s certainly not a sport bike but the engine is suited for fun cruising. Yes, the 360 two. vibrates from 3,000 to 4,000 RPM. That’s the nature of that classic design.

I have a 2020 and absolutely love it. Concur with your points, though the vibration is not that bad - there is just enough virbration to remind you your riding a motorcycle! Gas gauge would def have been nice.
