Nice video Blake I’m hoping you can help me with the shrimp pots what size are them and the square hole how big and small can they be and can I used them in all the sound thanks. By the way you biracial family is beautiful just like my family tight lines my friend

thanks Carlos! Regarding my family I've got to be the luckiest guy on the planet! Regarding the shrimp pot specs, I recommend checking out the end of the regs. It's like one off the last 2 or 3 pages. All I recall off top of head, is it's a 1 inch minimum mesh size for spot shrimp and a 1/2 minimum for other shrimp (coonstripe, pink). The maximum tunnel widths is variable, depending on the size of the pot. It's a little confusing I'd check the regs. Be sure to weigh em down. I've had them start to drift away on me in even slow currents. The small mesh leads to them being swept away. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I'm a commercial diver in BC and have done a lot of work on salmon farms. Salmon feed, the pellets, make great crab and shrimp bait. No muss, no fuss, cheap, just fill up your bait container and away you go. It was so easy it almost seemed criminal.

Whoa! Thanks Mo, I'll give em a try!

I love the 80 pp limit. At $38/lb. here in California, I never had more than 4 at once. I wonder what its like to eat 80...wow. You left me hanging...you should film you and your friend eating 160 of em at home...Oh man.
@WAFishQuest7 жыл бұрын
ha! thanks Calvin. I actually package of them in bags of 30 or so. I usually make it out three times a year (bear in mind, there are only four openers on Hood Canal). I have a family of three, so it's not like I REALLY get to pig out. :)

What bait did you use the second trip? Was it different than what you used the first time?

Super cool. I am so bummed I didn't get up there this year for the Hood Canal opener. I am going to try out of my kayak at Sequim. Hoping for at least one for my big fishing year.

Thanks Justin! Tim and I just did okay that first time out too- folks who are really dialed in can get a limit a pull! I think we went a bit deep (given how overcast it was) and bait needed to be soupier.

80 shrimps limit in Washington ?? I am from Alaska there no limit . I have commercial shrimp I have 150 stainless 30 inch round pots
@xvegasmellisx6 жыл бұрын
I wonder if that's a new thing? Back in the early 90's, my friends and I used to go out to Edmonds pier with our homemade shrimp traps we made from chicken wire. We used cat food cans tied down with pipe cleaners. In a couple hours we would fill a 5-gallon bucket and go home. haha Unless there was a limit and we didn't know it!

...only Canadians call spot shrimp.... Spot prawns..We in Alaska would confront the Canadians on being stupid..but we don't want them to send out their one boat to battle us..can't fight if you are laughing too hard..lol Prawns only live in fresh and brackish waters thru out the world in..2.5 percent salt water or less..The pacific ocean is. about 3.5 percent salt..and that is where shrimp live..until we eat them.
@utgeorge5 жыл бұрын
Prawns can stand upright and shrimp can,t. They fall over.
