True there can be ethical misconduct if he stays to be her dr. But he can ask her to see another dr and end this patient/ dr relation and can start romantic relationship. That’s the right way to go about any conflict of interest situations. Her family and her new therapist can advise her wether she is ready to pursuit romantic relationship with the dr or anyone else. We can’t assume she is vulnerable and can’t make decisions for herself. It could be having professional mental health provider is asset to her recovery. For someone who struggles with mental illness or not spouse can break you or make you stronger. As far as their age it shouldn’t matter as long as they both happy with each other. I’m not making excuses for a lot of our men who don’t understand their responsibilities as husbands. But I’m saying let’s not make any negative assumptions.
