Its ok la. no the first time insecure Malaysians diss Singapore's BKT. It only shows their inferiority complex. Singapore's BKT is different from Malaysia's herbal soup so how could it be a copy? Singapore version is more simple and tradition in taste so logically its only seem more likely it was Malaysia that copy Singapore's version and brought it back to put herbs.

For me, I want my bkt soup to be pure, clean and clear black, not oily. Too many bkt shops these days their soup all muddy brown in colour and got weird taste because they add all the mushroom and shit into their master pot. They boil all the super fatty parts in the soup, making it very oily, taste all lari. It cannot be too sweet also, because bkt was never sweet. Now all commercialized, overly sweet and salty. Bkt has to have a bitter end, not too much but enough to remind you that it is made with herbs and spices.

I no longer like yeoh's bak kut teh for years. Used to be great. But don't know what happened to their soup. So we no longer go there. Near where I lived there's this bak kut teh restaurant, swee xiang bak kut teh.. For me and my family, and my husband from Penang, this is our favourite bak kut teh to go. Penang got one claim authentic klang bak kut teh by penang foodie, 🙄, I don't know la the newer generation alter the bak kut teh with all the mushrooms thing... Spoiled the soup. Anyway this is the bak kut teh that we will go everytime balik klang, you guys if hunting for bkt... Try this one. You won't regret. A lot people from elsewhere after tried they thought this is a hidden gem bkt. Swee Xiang BKT. No 7 & 9, Lintang Sungai Keramat 10A/KU6, Taman Klang Utama, 42100 Klang, Selangor

Correct... you put the bloody shitake mushroom, button mushroom, enoki mushroom, taufu skin and you boil the bugger, the soup sure taste lari. This shitake mushroom taste is VERY strong, some shops use this mushroom while boiling the soup. All the herbs smell all gone. The only thing you can boil in the soup is pork with bone and garlic, nothing else. If the shop decide to boil pork belly or some other veey fatty part, the soup will become extra oily which is yucky. I prefer my soup to be pure and clean. That is bak kut teh.
