my parents said our cat saved me. when i was a baby i got curled up in a blanket and was crying. our cat ran downstairs to scratch on the door and miaow. first my parents didn't understand and left it, but the cat was insistent. so my parents followed the cat upstairs and heard me crying...when they uncovered the blanket i was nearly blue. i was very lucky. the cat was a stray cat that followed my dad home and became our pet.

I also grew up with a cat. We were born at the same month and we treated her like she was my twin. Lost her when I was 15 and I was very devastated. She was quite the special friend who was always there. In her honor, I named my daughter after her. edit: For those curious, her name's Sophie :)

We just lost one of our old cats last week. He was with us for 13 years. Before that? Who knows; he came from the streets. He was feral when we met and I can remember the first time he licked my head. I cried. He still didn't like to be held at the end, but I got as close as he would let me. Brutus was his name and it really fit him.

I love the way how you , your family and the cats live together so harmoniously. Each helping the other. Your love for animals has helped animals to love humans. I grew up with cats too. We loved them and they loved us sooo much. We became one family. One cat cried when my younger brother cried when he was 8 years old . It made a high pitch sound and put its front paws around my brother’s neck while it stood on his lap. And it licked his tears. I was 16 years old then. And I will never forget this. Cats have feelings.

We had cats and dogs from long before we had children and they were always wonderful together. The cats were so wonderful with the baby and I still have a picture of the baby "hugging" the kitty, although I am sure the kitty thought it was a strangulation, but he just sat there looking at the camera like, "Would you just hurry up please?" When our other kitty died, our remaining kitty slept cuddled up to the baby and you could tell he was sad and was getting comfort from the baby. Thank you for the peek into your wonderful life, and for bringing back some wonderful memories.
