HL002 is back at it again. HL002 with fresh paint is back in testing. It's rainy though. HL002 is a nice little diesel/battery hybrid locomotive.

Yes it's for Maintenance of Way work on the New York City Subway. It's small for that reason.

wow look at the size different so subway fleet are smaller and other trains are more larger i thought they were the same size

The subway has much tighter clearances. Mainly because it is much older.

The old Interborough Rapid Transit lines, now the NYCTA lines with numbers for names, have a maximum loading gauge of about 52 feet long, 8 1/2 feet wide and less than 12 feet tall, which was done to SPECIFICLY keep mainline railroads from trying to buy the company out and trying to run their trains through the tunnels. in order to be used system wide, all purpose built work equipment is built to the IRT size standard.
