That unfortunately is true, in some states the age to marry is 16 with parents consent. I was 17 and pregnant and wanted to get married but my parents wouldn't consent. Certain places you don't even need consent at 17, like Ohio and Illinois. Laws have changed. But I know I was 17 underage and just graduated highschool but couldn't get married to my highschool sweetheart, because my parents didn't consent.
