This school setting looks better than the inner city schools I went to in the 1990’s and early 2000’s in St. Louis, Missouri. Elementary and middle school were alright. It could have been better. The kids were cruel. The inner city high school I attended was plagued by drugs, kids smoking, teen pregnancies, and violence. Cafeteria fights in the mornings and at lunch time were a common occurrence. Kids brought lighters, firecrackers, and cigarettes and sometimes marijuana to school. On my way to the school library, I saw two boys coughing and getting high on a marijuana blunt/joint in the stairwell. I exited that area away from those boys immediately before the strong smell of marijuana got on my clothes even though I did not smoke any of it or stay a while in that area with them.
