Great Montage . Thank You . I worked in Security at the Manor for several years and know just how much work & care goes into running the place and keeping it as the Crown Jewell of the National Trust Crown. There is not pone person that does not take pride in their work at Waddesdon and I was proud to be part of that hard working team . I only left when I emigrated to New Zealand, I would have stayed on but the commute would have killed me.

You mean you actually left a job working security for the Rothschilds on behalf of the National Trust Crown for nothing, just to move to New Zealand? Why!

What a charming comment. Hope you're doing splendidly in 2022 Brian. I greatly missed visiting NT properties, historical fairs, farmers markets, village events and open gardens over the pandemic. I'm in awe of the hard work which talented and devoted people commit to in order to give others enormous aesthetic pleasure and keep history and education alive, welcoming, inclusive and dynamic. :) Cheers Brian!

Outstanding, such a beautiful Manor inside and out. The selection of furniture, art work and so much more is truly a treasure. A lot of upkeep and maintenance plus a lot money goes into maintaining the Manor and grounds. Again Mr. Ray Woods does not disappoint in recording so much detail to share with us all. Thanks again Mr. Wood you have a great craft and the selection of the music is so complimentary.

His wealth was astounding. He built Waddesdon at a cost (in todays money) of 183 million pounds as somewhere "to entertain his friends" and to house his ever growing collection of art and antiques. It was only in use for 3 months of the year (June July and August if I remember correctly). Such was its fame that Queen Victoria (who was not known for "gadding about" asked to be shown over the house. One can wander through the rooms quite freely. The park has an area of rocks and caves that is very popular with the children and one can round off ones visit with a delicious afternoon tea. I loved every minute.

Mr .Woods.I have no children. No parents. I have been alone in life through so much. Homeless..I have seen a butterfly while I awoke in a grassy dew kissed field, next to my face..just inches. The pain of hunger and embarrassment left me. The drops of dew looked like diamonds and God gave me that wealth that morning, the sun seemed to kiss every blade of grass and diamonds. Those diamonds I owned...in that moment.Perhaps your view of such grace....was just like mine.Thank you.

Ray Woods: When I began viewing this video, I had been watching Bill Robertson, Kansas City, miniatures videos. His miniature items are made with the same care and perfection as original, life-sized items. I thought I was seeing another perfect 1"/12" scale model of Waddesdon Manor with all the rooms, furniture, landscaping, etc. It took some time before I noticed your video was a real home! I had to see people inside to know the difference. Some dollhouse models of real places are very detailed. The Spencer House in London is one example where the miniature was created to almost match the real building, Princess Diana's former home. The luxury of Waddesdon Manor is actually the finest collection of opulent art and why not have it where the occupants can see it. It's no different from hanging art on your walls or placing statuary in a garden. What one does with one's money depends on personal taste. I found this decor to be more than I could live with, but truly beautiful in it's own right. I wouldn't want Picasso's work hanging in my home, because it's blunt and "in your face", but that doesn't make me ridicule it. Every expression using any media (paper, paint, pen, canvas, building supplies, etc.) is just that. Someone tried to express feelings and thoughts in "art". So, if viewers are not fond of opulence, at least they might consider another person's right to express that fondness in miniature or in real life. This is not a criticism of those who posted a "thumbs-down", because those posters are only expressing their personal feelings. I posted "like". Thank you for a perfect video. DBB

Thank you so much for such a lovely comment. Sadly my video of Waddesdon, which is run by the National Trust for the benefit of all does attract some pretty miserable comments aimed at the Rothschilds which I tend to filter out. Your comment is an honest appraisal of what this video is all about and what I was trying to achieve when I made and published it so thank you for that... :)

Blue Skies: And thank you for your kind words. I appreciate as a fellow artist, your taking time to let me know. We have to look past our own tastes in art or in what we collect and allow others to gather what they like. Art, as music, is very personal and our choices are what make us unique. It would be a very dull world if we didn't have that diversity. :0) DBB

Ray Woods: Hello, again. As you can see, I'm back for another look at this fascinating video. Each time I view it, I notice something I'd missed. The paper sculptures defy the limitations of the media and are so beautifully created. At first, I thought they were clay or hard sculpture, then read that a paper sculpture exhibit was taking place during the photographing of the house. Fragile magic! I'll be back to see this again and again. Thanks for keeping it here for us. Take care. :0) DBB

In life there are magnificent God given scenes to behold such as beautiful snow capped mountains and lakes that are surrounded by breathtaking grandeur. And by retaining them in our mind’s eye we are all the better for seeing them. We cherish their remembrance without any envy or hostility and are all the better for it. This beautiful house, Waddesdon Manor which I am yet to see, preserved by the wise choice of this good man, for all of us to see, will indeed please me as it has many thousands. That God should let a man create such a piece of art so that we all might behold it, is a great act of kindness by God and also by a very special man, who was wise indeed.

Ray Woods: Thank you for your nice reply. I've watched the video over and over. The music is perfect for this old home. You've given the viewer time to see everything rather than use "jumpy-cam" and blurred images. The video itself is a luxury and more relaxed on the senses than the brilliantly-colored house. Any other method of filming or any other music would have made the viewer feel hurried and a bit frantic to "see it all". Thanks again for your video and reply. I'm ready to see more. DBB
