Polyhedral skeletal 𝒆^− pair theory (HNCC)/Skeletal 𝒆^−pair theory or Wades rule (In metal carbonyls)
Each M(CO)3 units constituent 12 𝒆^− s. (3 pairs of 𝒆^− s from the metal to ligand through back bonding + 3 pairs of 𝒆^−s from 3 carbonyls through σ -bonds). These are non-skeletal s when these non-skeletal 𝒆^− s are subtracted from the TEC (Total Electron Count) gives the total skeletal 𝒆^− s. By dividing with 2 it gives the total number of skeletal 𝒆^− pairs.
The High Nuclear carbonyl Clusters are 𝒆^− s deficient these structures have polyhedron structure. The polyhedron structures of HNCC are related with Wades rule.
