I have a comment about the lane cedar chest. I believe you can look at the serial number backward to learn the date the chest was manufactured. This is how Lane cataloged their cedar chests. This is especially important if you ever find an old lane chest.

This looks like my Mothers jewelry. I love the charm bracelet, the charms are worth hundreds each. Was the purple stone amethyst? She probably had a mink stole too! Wow what a great unit, easily worth 20 or 30K just in jewelry. I think he said there was one 1 carat diamond and four 1/2 carats spread over the different rings. Looked like a lot of fun. I would have loved digging through that gold mine.

When you find fabric or something else we are happy, but when it's jewelry, gold or silver the feeling is not the same! I really appreciated the "follow-up" you did at the pawn shop... It really gives us an idea of the value of the items you found... I admit that sometimes you announce that you have to "check" something and we don't hear about it anymore! (For example, the huge stamp collection a few months ago?) Well, I promised that I would tell you the story of the black plates marked "France", but that will be for the next time because this comment is already long enough! I am eagerly awaiting the sequel!
