What brand of spinning rod are you using and what is the action/power? What would you recommend for someone that is just getting into inshore (jetty,beach, kayak,inlets) fishing? (fish on a everyday basis, just mainly local canals, some brackish water) I’m currently looking at a 7 foot medium power inshore rod or a 7 foot six medium heavy inshore rod paired up with a 4000 stradic, which rod size will be ideal

Gloomis NRX Inshore. A 7’ to 7’6” medium action rod is the best inshore option. 3000 to 4000 size reel depending on what you’re doing. Wading I like something light so I use a 3000 or a 2500. If I’m wading around heavy structure or fishing near a bridge or inlet I’ll move to a 4000, 5000, or 6000. Go with a medium action and a 3000 size reel and you’ll be fine.

@@TaylorMadeFishing would there be much of a difference from 7 to 7’6? Oddball question but if you could compare, how would you compare the gloomis nrx inshore to St Croix Tournament inshore?

Not much. 7ft is going to be more accurate but won’t cast as far. 7ft 6in will cast a little further but it’s not a BIG difference. I have many rods that are 7ft, 7’1, 7’2, 7’4 and 7’6 and there isn’t a big difference in casting distance. Where there is difference however is accuracy and power. So a 7ft medium to 7ft 6in medium is always a safe bet when fishing inshore.

@@TaylorMadeFishing in what applications would I want to use a medium heavy? Are the medium and medium heavy built to the same tolerance/strength? Example will they both break at the same fixed weight or will the medium not handle as much weight?

Buy me a place on the east coast brotha !!! 😂. I was a hunting guide in central Florida after I got out of the Navy. Real estate is so crazy right now so no moving for a while. But maybe sometime in a few years we’ll move.
