Wadkin Thicknessser Repair

Part 1.
When a machine breaks down it is neccessary to diagnose the problem. In this case a drive nut thread on the rise and fall mechanism was shown to have sheered off requiring a complete part remake. First video shows the problem part.

Enjoyed the ‘How things work’ talk. Don’t know these machines but the concept of the oil dripping through the bolts to lubricant the other parts was neat to know. Thanks

The BT 630 is a superb machine when looked after but you do need to keep the lubricant up to those wick feeders. It's also important to run the table up and down a few times to keep the threads clean and lubed. Mine is due for a service soon. Dust is hard on thicknesser parts. There are a lot of bearings in this machine. The plain bearings need regular oiling. It's a very accurate machine when dialed in properly but far toany woodshops neglect their machines and don't know how to adjust them correctly.

The problem was that the nuts were aluminium so they are not original. If you buy the proper Wadkin part ,they are not aluminium. Someone has previously cut corners and had parts made cheaply.
