This argument was so much more uncomfortable than the ones they had on the regular pod, Malfoy looked so upset afterwards.

There was an unhealthy amount of tension and forced banter in the last series of Wafflin. I didn’t realise it was this bad, this was definitely the final nail in the coffin. Had the boys continued Wafflin, I think their relationships would’ve genuinely ended. The boys haven’t had a lot to do with each other since Wafflin ended, and it’s only been the last few months they’ve began making content with each other again.

The major issue here is that Joe is very insecure and Theo likes to take the piss. Joe wants reassurance whereas Theo would rather be honest and Joe sees this as him being unsupportive

Joe getting so angry was out of insecurity of the fact maybe some people won't like his music and Theo and Luke were just giving the other side of the argument and Joe picked on theo to be livid at and completely let luke off the hook. Such a hard watch

I truly think Wafflin ending was a decision they all made to save their friendship. The last few episodes were very awkward and uncomfortable at points, and this argument here shows that they would fall out when talking about certain topics. Being forced to sit down and talk for an hour even after an argument isn’t very healthy. They ended the show so that this stuff wouldn’t happen because they want to remain friends still.

The ending is so awkward, Joe loves to control the narrative when Theo gives a valid explanation of his side, asks Joe to explain he then realises he’s being ridiculous and gives the generic nah doesn’t matter mate. The reason the dynamic didn’t work is because Joe seemingly loves being the main character!
@iluvleevi10 ай бұрын
Joe wasn’t looking for an explanation but an apology
@tutin409010 ай бұрын
Joe was really missing the point here. They weren't picking on him when they said new audiences might find his old stuff to be weird. What they mean is, when signed to a major label the creative outlet is diminished as radio tracks are extremely unrelenting in structure and sound. Not to mention Polydor are known to be the most guilty of printing out industry babies and repressing their talent.
@rje61310 ай бұрын
He was saying "nah doesn’t matter mate" because he clearly could tell Theo didn't get it, so when Theo keeps saying "explain", Joe knows he can't. Nothing he can say will make Theo understand and share the same mentality he does. It's where the entire thing stems from; Theo not understanding Joe's KZbin history, and why he is the person he is today. And I can see what Theo is saying, he was truly just bantering, but banter stems from Truth in most cases - while also knowing what someone is insecure about as to not attack the wrong thing. Theo bantering about Joe's KZbin history, showed that Theo didn't know it was a sore spot for Joe, and instead of apologising and backing-down after realizing, he actually double-downed.
@rje61310 ай бұрын
@@tutin4090 I disagree. I think Joe knew what they meant, but just fundamentally disagreed that he would want to ever do that. Joe being upset wasn't directly related to that topic, it was more to do with Theos relentless attitude towards Joe wanting to persue certain things in his career, and poking fun at those sore spots.
@Fortunaatp5 ай бұрын
People do misconceive Joe as a 'one of the lads' type but he's actually pretty sensitive and doesn't take too kindly to getting the piss taken out of him. Theo, as his friend, does know that but refuses to change his appraoch to cater for him. With that said, Joe was very content with Theo being an easy target and the butt of all his jokes, now Theo has outgrown that role personally and professionally and it definitely makes him insecure.

I think what joe found mostly annoying about this all is that Theo was just laughing. Whether it was at joe or not is besides the point. The whole argument in this video is quite uncomfortable to watch and I think was a sign that Wafflin was coming to an end. The whole vibe of Wafflin was bantering each other and taking the piss out of themselves. When Theo had injuries that would prevent him from making the videos he wanted to, Joe would take the piss. When Theo got out of a 7 YEAR relationship, Joe took the piss. All Theo and Luke were saying was that if Joe wants to sign for a major record label making proper industry tunes, he would need to sanitise his image a bit. Joe then ended up getting kicked off his label without releasing any tunes due to the "World Cup Song". His old stuff ended up spoiling that musical path he was going down. Joe saying that Theo is not his mate is fucked. He was so close to ruining a childhood friendship because he simply couldn't control his ego and admit that Kitty isn't a certified club banger.

I agree that Weller has an ego but it’s less about that and more about Joe not censoring his true nature and character. Theo Baker, a man who dies inside when he is referred to as Malfoy, the name that made him, would never understand why Joe would rather stay true to his roots and who he is instead of turning into a mainstream robot with none of his character intact. Theo moved to London and sucked off the sidemen to go mainstream and is terrified of being viewed as cringe from his past vids. It’s a bit like having a friend who’s slightly eccentric but you’ve got him an invite to a party and tell him to just tone it down a bit, so you can impress the people there. But in doing so you completely devalue your friends worth and character because they may seem strange to others. There is no life worth living if you cannot be true to your nature.

Joe does have a point that theo can't think on his depth but he should have realised that. I do hope they bring it back

@@Theboxingfanatic I think that's why they eventually ended the podcast. But it was getting a bit limiting cause they needed to bring in different stuff like more guests and different segments.
