Like many of the top Japanese bands, they are often said to be better live, but they do have spectacular music videos. I like this one and "Tengaku" because they really give a clear look at all the players and their instruments. Wagakki band are not so much known in the West but in Japan they are even bigger than Babymetal.

Can't go wrong with any Wagakki Band. Beautiful music. Just a note, the picked instrument Beni Ninagawa plays is a Tsuguru shamisen--native Japanese instrument. The bowed one you're mainly thinking of is the Chinese erhu

Oh you *have* to check out much more of their catalog! They are mega-talented, and literally *any* live performance is worth watching as they are even better live :-) Note that the drummers are incredibly fit individuals. Wasabi, the regular rock drummer with the back tattoo (actually not permanent) has a YT channel in which he cooks and works out, and is a lot of fun, even if you don't speak the language. This is in stark contrast to the drummers I grew up listening to, who were traditionally the least fit and had the worst habits within the band - Bonham died drinking on a motorcycle, Keith Moon died of the drink, Black Sabbath's drummer says that when he used to drink he'd wake up either in hospital or jail, and have no recollection of how he got there. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera... I have yet to check out your other reactions, but I do hope you've checked out Babymetal. The Kami Band who backs them are absolutely incredible, and the girls are always awesome of course (Moa will steal your heart, I'm just warning you now hehe). All the best to you!

Hi, Thank you for introducing Wagakki Band this time. I will briefly introduce them. They are all made up of eight people. (Vocal, key): Yuko Suzuhana (female) Born in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture. She started playing the piano at the age of three, and she started poetry and dancing at the age of five. She graduated from the piano department of Tokyo College of Music and she is a master of Shigin. Her Shigin is a unique Japanese singing style that has been passed down from ancient times. (Tsugaru Shamisen): Beni Ninagawa (female) You can think of the shamisen as a Japanese version of the guitar that has been around for a long time, but unlike the guitar, the neck does not have frets or position marks. That is why playing the shamisen is so difficult. However, she has the skill as a shamisen master. The shamisen she uses is a type called "Tsugaru shamisen". (Koto): Kiyoshi Ibukuro You can think of the koto as a Japanese harp. (Shakuhachi): Daisuke Kaminaga You can think of the shakuhachi as a Japanese flute. But, in fact, there was little precedent for this instrument to be used in such pop songs, which is why the band was also groundbreaking. (Dr): Wasabi Born in China. Raised in Okayama. She has a Chinese father and a half-day mother. She started playing drums at the age of 15, and she is the youngest member of the Wagakki Band. She is a two-handed person who uses her dominant hand according to the purpose. (Japanese drum):Kurona According to the members, he seems to be the oldest, but the year of birth is unknown. He started playing wadaiko at the age of three, and at the age of nine he entered a professional group of wadaiko in Tokyo and practiced traditional playing techniques before becoming independent. He has performed in more than 15 countries around the world, and has been active as a Japanese drum player in various scenes in Japan and overseas, such as magazines, TV, and theatrical performances. He participates in sessions and recordings with various artists as a player who creates new music with traditional "Wadaiko". (Guitar, Vo, Chorus): Machiya He has played Nico Nico Douga's "I tried to play" and "I tried to play the Night of Nights" more than 1.7 million times as of the end of December 2019. He is from a visual kei rock band and is active in various fields such as participating as a guitarist in other bands. (Bass):Asa He introduced himself that he was born in Tokyo and raised in Saitama. When he plays, he wears feminine make-up, hairstyles and outfits, but her truth is that she is a man. That's a brief introduction to them. I hope you will enjoy Wagakki Band. Thank you.

Wagakki Band is like a Japanese version of German folk rock band Schandmaul. At least I would like to see both bands to tour together one day. That would be awesome. If you are interested in more Japanese rock/metal check out ELFENSJóN, a doujin music a circle led by metal composer Keisuke Kurose and manga-ka Kachiru Ishizue. I would recommend "Hexenjagd", "Wiegenlied" or "Lunatic Mirage" by them. The musicians playing and singing are all guest musicians. Only Ishizue and Kurose a permanent members. :3

Avex uses to block MVs licensed to them. Stick to live video, this band is best live anyway. That being said. This song is taken from Vocaloid and is a cover of Hatsune Miku. the song is about the westernization of Japan, which happened during the Meiji Restoration. Despite having an upbeat, oriental track, the song contains rather dark themes, mentioning guillotines and ICBMs. In addition, the lyrics state things such as "Songs of lament go unheard" and "This is a banquet inside a steel jail cell". Since you liked it, I recommend "Hakanaku mo utsukushii no wa" from Premium Symphonic Night Vol.2 kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3O1qpeXm5aYf6M&ab_channel=FrankGarc%C3%ADa This one night only concert with Amy Lee as special guest for the performance of "Bring me to life" If you want to hear Yuko sing shigin try this kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYu7nIysrLKpi8k&ab_channel=CCW

FYI, "Shigin" is not Japanese/Chinese, but purely Japanese. It is poem recital on melody, actually singing. It is not nice to both ethnics to mix them up. It is like saying German/Russian. They have a main singer and a back singer/guitarist, and the bassist also sometimes sing, and the guitarist and the bassist sing in the front in some cases. The band name is "Wagakki Band", not just "Wagakki". In you way, "The Band" will be "The". "Wagakki" means Japanese Instrument, hence Wagakki Band is Japanese Instrument Band.
