As a coin conservator, I was both amused and cringing at the same time. Never use erasers or polish on coins. I would leave milk spots until some future technique comes along to remove them. It's true that in selling to a bullion dealer it will make no difference if the coin is perfect or impaired, but to get some premium back from a fellow collector, it matters big time. That Kangaroo was already heavily damaged, so what the heck, have fun. I just got my 2018 Roos today, and they would easily qualify as SP70. The latest issue, is hazing on Rwanda coins due to the PVC in the packaging. That can be handled by removing from the package and gentle coaxing by a Q-tip with water and dish detergent.

I use a small strong vapor cleaner from the dental laboratory to remove milk spots from my coins. This method is very gentle to the coins and I don't get scratches in the coins surface. To prevent the coin from water spots I emmediately blow them dry with compressed air. Usually these milk spots don't show off again.

I use a softer rubber/eraser, it causes less scratches and then I lightly massage the coin with asetone and wash it under running watcher and it works a treat.

Try aluminium bakingsoda and deionized water. Going from memory on the ingredients so it might not be right but is worth a try. I guess rap the coin in foil and place it in a bath of water and baking soda. Don't rub it. Don't know how long to leave it but maybe overnight.

jewelry wipes would probably be the best, chemical designed to clean silver. I have a tube of bull/bear rounds, all with varying degrees of milk spots as well as some Perth Funnel web spiders. Maybe one day may try to clean, but the bull/bears are generic, do I really want to spend time and money on something that is basically spot priced.

I bought silver maple leafs for bullion, it was only a dollar or so more than the bars, they can spot all they want, they're still 1oz 9999 silver and they are a coin. Silver and gold are real money. Copper may become very expensive so I grab anything made of pure copper especially when it is still free as a scrap metal.

if you want the test to be accurate you have to do a different section for each remedy type because when you go over a spot that you treated it is contaminated.

It's a nice idea if a person like me can have the time to do this as milk spot therapy since you seem to find it beneficial to relax with. Besides, as a Goth myself I think the queen could look more interesting if she tried to apply that porcelain white complexion sought after by most Goth girls. Speaking of cosmetics I was thinking of giving it the Nail Polish remover a try on some milk spots.

Just got out my silver eagles from storage about 160 oz’s worth almost every one covered in milk spots I’m shocked. I don’t even want to look at my maple leafs or kangaroos. Pretty strange the cheap silver rounds I have zero milk spots expensive silver eagles covered in them. I stack for weight either way just don’t like these milk spots. Ah cool, I'll check it out, currently going through your back-catalogue of videos! I agree with what you've said about wanting to get my hands on them proper, especially the bigger ones. Also, I return with tidings! Melamine sponges (like 10 for £1 on amazon over here)are perhaps the best thing I've ever tried for cleaning coins. Even some of the worse crud on them goes away, I had a Kennedy half that looked a bit sad and it looks nearly mint now!

hey I need some advice I got a 30th anniversary isle of man 1 oz coin pcgs ms69 n it's got milk spots on the back and about half of the Queens face what should I do? should I just crack open the case and try and take the milk spots off? is it worth being a graded coin if it has spots? do you think I will get any time of premiumforit with the spots ? Ny Silver stacker - I am sorry it took me so long to respond! I did check out the 75th Pearl Harbor coin - how beautiful! As for the opening of the slab - I'd say the premium is likely highly diminished , such a shame and I am so sorry this happened.... at this point I guess do whatever makes you feel better (a cleaned coin also wont fetch any premium though). Luckily the silver is still worth the silver if you know what I mean. Perth coins (swan and dragon phoenix in particular) are absolutely stunning, they do a fantastic job. I really appreciate you watching, and I hope you keep on stacking my friend!
@SilverFuture
@SilverFuture 7 жыл бұрын
This is very true too Ny, a slab is a slab at the end of the day - and people want their stuff to match. So a slab buyer may be more interested in it than if you were to remove it (just a guess).

"bullion coin" is a conflict in terms... simply saying silver or gold "coin" is the most accurate description. Bullion doesn't have a government guarantee stamped on the coin
@dkpqzm
@dkpqzm 4 жыл бұрын
Is that true? I've always been told that bullion is government minted and has a face value, while generic private minted rounds are not bullion. Either way they have intrinsic value for the silver, but government minted bullion is more desirable.
