Biggest advantage of these Wago connectors is that they can handle both solid and stranded wires, and wires of dissimilar diameters, better than twist-on connectors.

What is the electrical resistance of the connection? What is the contact surface of the conductor to the inner plate and the current carrying surface of the inner plate? Thank you!
@WAGO_Germany5 жыл бұрын
The connectors are released according EN 60998. In this standard the requirement is to have a voltage drop per contact less than 22,5 mV under full load. Our 222 series passed this tests with safety distance to the required limits. The surface of the current bar is a special tin mix which is developed by WAGO to ensure the long time high contact quality.

@@WAGO_Germany there should be NO VOLTAGE DROP at all in any connection no matter what!
@derdrache0512 Жыл бұрын
@@RadioRich100unfortunately a voltage drop hapens because of electical resistance. Every wire has a voltage drop, every connector has a voltage drop, everything that conducts electricity has a resistance and thus a voltage drop.
@RadioRich100 Жыл бұрын
@@derdrache0512 Direct copper to copper has no voltage drop, as there is no connector. The wire nut merely protects the conductors which make there own connection. Wagos are like putting resistors in series with the circuit held together by springs which lose their spring via time and heat. They fail over time in different ways. No reason to use them other than speed. Haste makes waste!

Dear Graham, a terminal must be used for each potential because it is bridged internally. Kind regards from the WAGO Team

All lives go to into one connector, all neutrals into another connector and all earths into another connector. So in your case you need 3 connectors. Hire an electrician if you need help, don't mess with electricity.

I'm afraid not, the 222 do a max of 4mm cable diameter where as the 221 can cover upto 6mm max. 10mm would need to be joined via a readily accessible junction box or back to the shower switch or consumer unit.

No, No, No, No, No! You should never, never, ever crimp the end of a crimp bucket! The crimp should always be some distance away from the end of the crimp bucket, to avoid putting a stress point and likely failure point in the wire as it exits the crimp. When the crimp is correctly located on the crimp bucket, some way from the end, it allows the crimp to naturally flare out and stress relieves the wires as they exit the crimp. He was doing quite a nice job up until that point!
@Ts645110 жыл бұрын
Well, the parts of the Wago 222 system is designed to work together the way shown in the video, obviously this only applies to this specific system, other ways of splicing wires in an installation may have other strain relief requirements. I expect the reason they can use such short strain relief on these is that the spring based cage clamps are resistant to issues caused by thermal expansion/contraction and vibration, there is no screws to work loose or that can be over/under tightened and the spring ensures the clamping pressure is maintained as long as the conductor is within the clamp. Wago has been making connectors based on their cage clamp technology for decades, and as far as I know has a good reputation for reliability, so I would expect they know what their technology requires to be reliable. Those levers can be a bit hard on the fingers though...
@lewisjsuk110 жыл бұрын
Don't know what happened there, that comment I left was nothing to do with Wago terminals, but a chap using a crimp splice with a hex die on a group of wires, where he crimped the entire length of the barrel and didn't leave a flare where the wires entered the crimp! How it got associated to this video I don't know!
