I was sitting in a rundown biker bar along the Susquehanna River in Southern Pennsylvania when I heard this song play on the jukebox. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, sang this song from start to finish, word for word. The sadness, the anger and the desperation all vanished from there faces for the few minutes this song played throughout that place. Everytime I hear it I feel like I'm sitting there again...

I was born and raised in France, moved to Lynchburg, VA in 2004 when I was 19 and now live in Bluefield, WV... That's deep south... I got to say it was quite a transition and a cultural shock but after living in this country for almost 10 years now, I got to learn it and love it... Listening to this song makes me feel great, and hope I never get deported :D

Never been a fan of country/folk, but my roommate got me hooked on this song. I guess after you hear a song enough, you either despise it or come to enjoy it. In my case, it's the latter.

I was listening to Pandora today, and this song came on. I thought it was Darius' version, which is fine and the musical part is great, but to me it just seemed like another country song, so I never got much into it. I was about to change it until I heard him sing headlights. Instantly hooked. Much better job. The originals always win.

this song is a staple here in downtown roanoke,va! we love it. its one of those songs that everyone in the bar stops what they're doing to sing along with it. they are from just north of here at harrisonburg which is where james madison university is. it's about an hr and half to the north of roanoke.

My favorite version of this song. But I like Darius' version too. And I would have unlikely ever heard this song if it wasn't for him. So credit to him for putting me in the direction of a great band like OCMS. Don't be so cynical folks. It's not an admirable trait.
