Bro, just did the upgrade. Gotta say, I paid 582 R$ (Brazilian currency) and after the little adventure that was opening it and "tunning" its sweep this pedal sounds sick af and defintely worth it. Dude this is brilliant! I pulled my HB from storage to try this mod as I have no guide like this 3 years ago. I did not remove the stoppers to retain the stock throw and did the nudging as your'e correct - my LEDS are off center! Then poked the end of the sweep slit round a bit and that made a world of difference as now my HB powers immediately as the light now peeks thru the power slot early and the sweep starts soon as well maxing out to a hellish b'waaah. The range on this is insane I could compare it to Petrucci's JP wah as it can do a lot of things. I understand why you hate the 123 as it is so quacky the swell is too fast its hard to modulate the notes compared to the slower 456. But I hope u do a followup on how you actually use the ranges on a musical context. Thanks a lot Man, Now I have to put my Dunlops in storage. That toe on/off button really is a waste of step 😂❤

Useful video, thanks. I am considering do the mods but I like a 'wah' sound rather than a 'bwah'. I just want to increase the sweep, so it starts straight away. should I just extend the slot rather than round it out? And are there any downsides to this mod? Thanks again for the video - super useful!

The lenght of the slit determines how FAST the swell happens as u step on it, the shorter the more faster it wah's. The end of the slit determines how WIDE the wah swells at the end and enunciate its vowels (wah e i o u) hence rounding it off makes the vowels more prominent. You need not extend this slit if you kept the rubber snubbers as is since it is pointless to lenghten the slit if the pedal travel wont even go further. Downside: Once you start lenghtening slits or rounding off the end - theres no going back so cut, round it in tiny increments. I

@@jo.burgos Update: I ended up not modifying it, it looks like they changed the design of this part, I'm not 100% sure, but I am a 100% satisfied with this thing. Plus, a brand-new original Dunlop CryBaby crapped out on my band mate after a day of use, so it was Behringer to the rescue :D

Sounds awesome. Can you explain a bit more how you measure how much to extend the slot when you remove the rubber nub

I just used a thin white pen to mark the CENTER position of the LED in the blocker's slit when the toe is fully depressed. In my case, as I poked the end of that slit with a screw driver to round it off - it actually lenghtened the slit as well hitting that mark I made.

How exactly do you take the upper moving part off of the base in order to do the optical mod? I found an allen wrench bolt under the heel and took it out but that seemed to do nothing. I can't find anything online

The rocker itself is held in place by a pin with a square head. Just push that out using a thin screwdriver or something similar. The hex bolt u mentioned only tightens the rocker's play but in the long run the teflon insert degrades so the bolt wont help to tighten the play anymore.

Hey dude. I tried this mod and i managed to get the sweep to start earlier, so now it's more of a bwah sound which is awesome. However, now the sweep ends too quickly, about half the pedal distance. It now feels too sensitive. Do you know what i did wrong?

@@lukejxson Did you remove the rubber stopper under the rocker toe? If you did, power and sweep will cut off midway since the POWER and SWEEP LED's will be blocked already as the plastic blocker hits the extra pedal travel. If so, you need to clear that block by chipping the POWER LED SLOT and SWEEP SLOT a bit to compensate - so the lights passes thru all the way till the end of the wah travel.

​@@jo.burgos I believe the problem is the opposite. I think I made the sweep slot too wide, so too much light is let in too early and it finishes the sweep before the pedal is fully pressed down

@@lukejxson I see. I encountered that. I overestimated my cut, but rather than looking for a replacement plastic blocker - i remedied the over cut with some copper tape as you would see on my vid, the blocker have some tape on it.
