I'm not surprised; it sounds like they have shipped an unfinished product. Not that Garmin wouldn't ever do that, LOL
@RyonBeachner23 сағат бұрын
Be careful with the out front mounts on integrated bar/stems. This unit is large, and heavy, and if you go ahead and add a GoPro or headlight for riding in the evenings, you’ll want to check the user manual on the bars to verify that the bar is rated for the combined weight, or you risk ripping the threaded fittings out of the bar when hitting rough terrain or potholes. I run an Edge 1040, and when I add up the weights vs what my bars are rated for, I’m within 20g of the limit, so this thing would be a no go. Also, considering the weight is further out, it’s going to have even more leverage and reduce the rated weight by some amount.
@thrawed8 сағат бұрын
One thing to consider is with a light or gopro underneath is a gopro-finger extension piece that moves the weight backwards towards the stem so there's far less leverage acting on the mount.

This wind sensor is redundant. Wahoo tried to introduce something new, but they ended up with a heavy brick...

I really think this is the best way to sell more roams and bolts. I do not understand at whom this is targeted. The aero sensor is a cool gimmick but is irrelevant for training particularly if you use a power meter. Enthusiasts and even more so competitive cyclists already mostly chose the bolt over the roam for weight reasons. On the other hand, if you are not weight obsessed and only want navigation features, you could just use your phone. I am a wahoo fan and if the ace was more like the Garmin in the video dimension and weight wise it could have been interesting. Wahoo just went too far with the design for my taste.

@@davidarthur It needs a bigger CPU. The V2 struggles with reassessing courses along with a sizeable latency gathering on-the-fly data. And, so annoying having it restarting the resume several times when standing at traffic lights or just stopping.

Sorry you haven’t been well - hope you are fully recovered!! Enjoyed the discussion about the wind sensor - I’m sure you could use it to optimise drafting in the short term. Not true, it is good to hear different viewpoints. I will also be interested to hear GP Lama's view. The fact that he hasn't posted yet doesn't bode well as he often holds back when a unit isn't ready. He's been burnt by Shimano in the past.

I would like to have turn by turn navigation (it is useful when on unknown roads in a traffic where you cannot watch the map and we know that modern GPS devices can sometimes lead you the wrong way when they confuse the direction, a voice navigation might correct that). I am going to stay with my trusted Bolt 2 for a couple of years before I decide to upgrade to Garmin 1060 or Ace 2. (I am going to need a bigger screen size)
@uberamd22 сағат бұрын
It seems like a couple rides in the mud, especially if you're following a group, will result in that unservicable air port getting completely clogged. You should give this a test on some mountain bike singletrack in the winter to see just how dirty it gets. Puzzling design decision to be honest, but I guess I understand why their marketing materials don't really push this feature much beyond mentioning that it exists.

I think its a bit too big and heavy in relative terms for the weight conscious riders out there. Seems to be of more use to the longer distance traveller rider that isn't trying to justify every last gramme on the bike. On a separate item was that the Fairlight you were riding towards the end of the vid? As always nice work and get well soon.

This is for those that do racing and especially TTs I think. Cause most people don´t really need all the functions on this. I ride for the fun of it, don´t really care how fast I am going or how much power I put out. I would love a computer with a screen this size. But i don´t need all the functions on it. I mostly want it to have a bigger screen for the maps. So wish they would make a budget version with the screen and the basic functions. Like how long of a ride you've done and maybe max. speed and average speed. But that´s all I need.

@davidarthurКүн бұрын
Without testing that exact combo I'm not sure but provided there's adequate clearance to the handlebar it should be fine - that's a small issue with both the Ace and 1050, some integrated out front mounts barely allow the bigger computers to fit

As hyped as i was about a bigger screen with touch function the missing strava live segments and poor route profile (even though its on the box) its a no from me. A good unit thats not quite ready is how i see it and at that price point it really should be ready.

Those features and others are planned for firmware updates next year and other ones too so guess maybe wait until they’ve been added before taking a closer look? @@davidarthur, battery life was one of my biggest concerns. It sounds like the unit is not optimised yet. That being said, I stopped buying head units at release after being burnt by my Edge 1040, which frankly struggled with buggy software at release.
