Why would anyone dislike this video!!! What a awesome catch. You are so lucky to catch wahoo in your waters. They are awesome eating fish. I have tried to catch one in Mexico but they are hard to catch.

Wahoo was one of the fish I wanted to catch when I was down in Florida Keys a couple years back, and I actually managed to catch one. It was the only fish on my "most wanted" list that I ended up getting though. The weather was really windy for most of the 3 weeks I was there so we spent a lot of the time in the Gulf. Only got out on the Atlantic side 4 or 5 times? I forget. Saw some good fish on the days we did get out, but I think our lack of knowledge wasn't helping put them in the boat. I'll be a little more prepared next time.

Yep, Wahoo are one fo the most amazing fish the catch, that first run is just the best!

@zippy19117 жыл бұрын
This dudes got great angles and editing skills even in the beginning. Not a lot of time messing the reels, paddling around, just the money shot's I would think a lot of folks would watch just for the "How To" aspect of it. It would work for any action content.

Hey, love your clips. Couple of questions if you don't mind. When you are a fair way offshore like that do you have someone you can call for a tow in if the weather goes pear shaped on you? How long are you typically out for? I'm just starting out myself in Sydney and trying to get fit enough in my Hobie. Inshore only atm. Thanks
@rokkitkit9 жыл бұрын
+Mikey San Hi Mike, thanks! I paddle out as far as around 8km but most trips are around 2 to 6km out. These days I usually go before work so I hit the water at first light and stay out to around 7.30am so around 3-4hrs... if the weather is good on my day off then a loner trip until around 11 is a good day. On the recent trip to Hawaii I paddled from 6.30am until around 2pm for 7 days strait, but that was a bit of an extreme situation and I was buggered by the end of it all... I always go out with my mobile phone and also have a VHF radio but have never needed to use them to be rescued, I would definitely recommend building up fitness and getting familiar with what conditions your comfortable with, the build on that. Good luck with it all :)

Hi, another great video, was wanna ask if you trolling hard body lures how many meters of line u put out behind the yak? same question for livebaiting, thanks heaps!!
@rokkitkit7 жыл бұрын
There is no perfect rule to it, I usually flick the bail arm and count 20 seconds for the first one and 30 for the next when paddling. But sometime less depending on what I'm fishing with. I have had hits within a few meters form the kayak so you never really know whats going to work on the day.

Pac, what yak do you paddle? I love the huge storage area.
@rokkitkit10 жыл бұрын
Its a Stealth Profisha 475. Made in South Africa. You just can't beat that big centre hatch. All the rods are safe inside fully rigged when launching through surf too. Cheers Rod

@zippy19117 жыл бұрын
How much line did that beast run off on you in the beginning?
@rokkitkit7 жыл бұрын
I can't remember on this fish but probably about 200m... I always use overheads for trolling with around 400-500m of braid just incase a big wahoo hits, have had them strip me close to the end of the spool in seconds. Crazy fast!
@colechristian75289 жыл бұрын
What kind of rod and reels are you using? And what lures to. Plz reply cheers mate
@rokkitkit9 жыл бұрын
Hey Cole, In this video Im using a Penn Jigmaster 500 reel and an 10-15kg Uglystick gold rod. Up until recently the Jigmasters were my go to reel due to them being able to take such a beating on the kayak and still keep going. I now use Penn Fathoms and they seem to be coping well so far. I don't tow lures very often, they do work but in my area they don't have the same strike rate as baits. This fish was caught on a dead trolled pillchard. Rigged with 39lbs single strand wire. Cheers Rod

Hey +RoKKiT KiT. How many times have you been slashed by makerel teeth ? Which was the worst one ? What recommendations do you have for newbies ? I reguarly view your videos. Great job mate.
@rokkitkit9 жыл бұрын
+Sean van der Walt Hi Sean, I have been bitten through my fingernails by bonito a few times trying to put them on as lives and had lots of hooks in varies places but i'm always very conscious of the mackerel and wahoo teeth. A good set of long noes pliers are at hand for de hooking as tempting as it can be to try with your fingers its not worth the risk.
@hossharton70178 жыл бұрын
do you worry about sharks? do you use a shark shield? had any encounters in the past?
@rokkitkit8 жыл бұрын
Cheers Mate, Yea I see sharks fairly regularly but they are generally only interested in a free feed of fish. I don't have a Shark Shield but some of the guys do use them... Im et to run into a monster 4 metre version though, that will get the blood pumping!
@caranx897 жыл бұрын
big fish!!you used "Rigged with 39lbs single strand wire" but whats long? here in spain the wahoo/peto in deep 100-300ft and 30-80lb: Would 39lb wire be enough?
@rokkitkit7 жыл бұрын
My wire is usually around 30cm long. I have caught several Wahoo on 39lb no problems, but have also used 58lbs. Cheers Rod

What kind of case and attachment you use for your phone?
@rokkitkit8 жыл бұрын
Optrix case for the iPhone 6, I just used the mounting bracket that came with a ram mount from their site and bolted it to my PFD with a piece of plastic for a backing plate.

what pound line are you using mate?
@rokkitkit9 жыл бұрын
+atomic blazr Hey mate, I'm pretty sure I had 50lbs on then. You could go a little lighter but I like around 50lbs just in case that special fish comes along.
