I've struggled with my mental health for years now, and I can definitely relate to what Pete talks about here. We've seen that he's not the only pro cyclist that's needed to step back or take a break, and he won't be the last. I wish him all of the best in everything that he does.

Keep your carb intake as much as you crave bro. Keep fat intake under 10g a day. Test your b12 and hormone levels (SHBG, estrogen, testosterone and free testosterone) Thank me later.

Fantastically open and honest about the struggles of mental health. You never know what is going on inside just by looking at the outside. Chapeau Pete.

Incredible film. I quit swimming 18 years ago and now ride, but still consider myself a swimmer. Deep down the athlete is always there. Fascinating film with such genuine honesty.

Great to see both Pete and his brother Tim still involved in cycling - commentating and Tim as a DS. For many years to come I hope.

I was lucky enough to meet Pete and guide with him on a very wet and horrible corporate cycling event, just after he'd retired in 2019. I could not have wished to meet a nicer bloke, a true gent and I'm so pleased to see he's laid his demons to rest...good on ya Pete!

Such a strange thing, only just blogged about seeing Peter in the 2014 commonwealth games and how I love the image and then this video comes out. On top of that I’m seriously struggling with my life at the moment and hearing him be so open is making me feel better that it’s ok to not be ok. Thanks wahoo and Peter

Such a handsome and well spoken young man. He is a survivor. I guess it's critical to keep everything in perspective. The dreams and goals when they are reached usually don't fill the void. We think they do but they don't. He's simply enjoying life with a better perspective of what really matters... the little things.

It was a brave decision to walk away and for him the right one. Sometimes you need to hit reset and decompress. Doesn’t make you a quitter it makes you realise who you actually are. All the best on the comeback and hope you get to enjoy the moments

It would be great to see Pete racing again. My dad and I watched him win that yellow jersey in Albertville and throughout my junior years I rode a white Pinarello, always admired his respect for the national jersey, class act on the bike.

Wow, what a moving film. I came here from a recommendation by Ned Boulting. I’ve always admired Pete and really respect him for making this film. An inspiration to many men who struggle with life’s challenges in whatever form they may be. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and good luck Pete in your next venture. You deserve your happiness and success! ❤️

Powerful film. Saw Pete in the 2018 Worlds at Innsbruck when he did a great ride. Fantastic bike racer with nothing to prove. Write the chapter if you want to Pete, with no pressure, as long as it’s enjoyable

Wonderful, there are things in life that we are ment to hang on to and for many cycling gives freedom, escape from all the other things in life so you can come back and face them in a better head-space. Thank you for your openness.

Wow, thank you for being so open about a sport we all love to watch but not think about what is actually going on in the head of the pro cyclist, especially when your top shelf, makes me wonder how Chris Froome feels… well done dude 💪💪

I used to say when I was asked once how my legs are when on a fast group ride (chainy) 'yeh not bad' but then my head's been a bit cabbaged' and it was wholly true, it's a physical and mental addiction cycling and it's easy to let it run away with 'you...but you can leave the head behind, not think too much emotion and I think that can get to some people... riding a road early am or anytime, can be a lonely life, seeing grey tarmac, it really gets to you sometimes, I physically love exercise/cycling but it fks ya head

Peter basically never had a proper teenage experience. He sacrificed too much in his young formative years. He essentially behaved like an adult since he was a teen, and eventually it caught up with him. Important lessons for young adults out there. Make sure you work hard, but relax and balance that just as hard.
