You’ll always be able to find some older gen tech at a discount price that makes its price to performance better than some newer gen tech.. BUT.. you’re taking that risk burning your money.
@Oozaru8523 күн бұрын
Honestly, the cards arent that old to just randomly break. If you get a used card from last gen and it breaks, it had some factory defect already inside when it was purchased new by the former owner. It was going to break eventually, anyway. This can happen with new cards as well. But its very rare. Sure, the new card has warranty. But I have seen enough cases where the maufacturer refused to repair or take back the card and not refund it. Here in Germany thats not an issue, luckily. We have strict laws for that. Not sure how this works in other countries tho. Anyway. I have been buying used GPUs since the Pascal era. I never had issues with any of them. My current 3070 I bought for €250 used last year still runs like a charm. My old 1080 (which I also got used few years ago) runs in my nephews rig now. No issues there either. These GPUs will still be running when I"m in my death bed, lol.

I played RDR2 on 1600x900 with a 1050ti. Then I upgraded to a 4060 and tested RDR2 out on 1920x1080. Did I miss out? NO! I didnt not. 1600x900 was great! I can see the specs sheet. Vexing. btw you could push you 3070 a bit further easily hit over 2000 mhz on the core and idk what you memory is at but id do that and just set a static fan speed 50-70% max thing won't push even hit 70 degrees. bdi ram oc with ur 5600x oced allcore oc to what even ur silocin lets you jit stable with ur cooler keeping temps ideal under load first then get patriot cl19 4400 kit set it to 1.5v run ram at cl14 14 14 28 with super tight subs 3800 Mt/s flck 1900 1:1 ratio 1900 which this kit will do in its sleep should get a 1440 monitor ur cpu and gpu will have no problem

Back in the day we had 1060 6gb with similar price, bought it for 289 bucks iirc, now the cheapest 4060 cost the same 289 for Gigabyte one and 319 for Asus, so yeah since I ran with 1060 6gb for almost 7 years now, with the upcoming games I am going to get the 4060. 4070 and 4080 is going to stretch my budget.

Would buy the 4060 if the user streams lots of content it should be much quieter with less coil whine. Three to ten years more service life than a used 3070 is also a factor. The modder in me also likes the super low power draw for custom SFF builds though would probably go 4060ti 16gb. Running a strong workstation that fits in messenger bag is Definitely possible.

I’m about to buy a 4060 ti for $399. Gigabyte came out with a card with the same dimensions as the evga 3060 xc and it’ll be perfect for a sky reach 4 mini or akkla a3 The 4060 ti is 2080 ti and 3070 performance on 150w I have a 3080 right now but I’m super power conscious so the 4060 ti will be great. I don’t really need a 3080 for what games I play The important thing is inflation. A $399 card is actually a $329 card back when 30 series came out, so think about the 4060 ti as the “true” replacement for the 3060. $499 is $588 now $299 was $250 in 2019

I think its important to also discuss software. Raw performance is better yes, but frame generation/DLSS 3 is also a very important aspect going forward with future releases that will support it. I have a 4070 and turning frame gen on is like you just waved a wand at your pc screen and suddenly you have nearly double your frame rate, and it looks and feels great. And also, you cant ignore that power efficiency. Both are great deals in my opinion! but the 4060 has my money if your plan is to play new games for the next few years. If you want to play older games (not released in 2022/2023 and forward) or esports games then absolutely go for the 3070.

If you have to wait™️ for the RTX 4060 to be better than the RTX 3070 (or all the other better GPUs at similar pricing) for a feature that only works best for slower paced, single player, CPU-limited games in which latency is not a concern, I'd consider that a mediocre deal. The power efficiency advantage also only matters in small PC case builds and not so much electricity bills for most of the world.

@@vncube1 if your #1 concern is $ and you live in an area with expensive power it could definitely be a factor to consider. the difference between say $15/year and $30/year seems pretty substantial if you're buying a $300 GPU. agreed it only matters in places with expensive power and for users who are more price-focused than performance focused. more cost over time is probably worth a 30% fps boost for most people, esp. if it pushes slightly more modern games to consistent >60fps given almost all budget monitors are 60Hz.

It would struggle at 4k a lot, which was annoying because my main monitor was 4k and the pixel layout made the games look OK but really off at the same time, using the 1440p monitor looked better than 1440p on 4k but it still looked worse than native 4k. I am sure I will get a lot of heat for this but I agree and disagree with your video. Biggest thing, and thank you for mentioning it is the fact of buying used and no warranty. I paid $270 for my Asus Dual 4060 brand new from a local retailer. Card is whisper quiet under load due to its extremely low TDP which is important to me. The main thing though (and this is where the heat will come) is DLSS 3 support. Yeah yeah "fake frames" people say but for all the people saying this, have you personally experienced this or just following the trend? I was amazed how smooth Cyberpunk became with higher frame rate due to DLSS 3. I think this video not including DLSS 3 being brought up doesn't show the full picture of what 40 series has truly brought to the table. I do think Nvidia did some shady things with this launch but I do not agree that this was as bad a launch as everyone makes it out to be. I think Nvidia is doing some pretty impressive things with software and power consumption and hope these trends continues with future releases but with better hardware improvements.
