One of the things that was cool about living in Indian Village was not just the snoot factor which is what most people see, but that every resident there thinks of their house as a work of art and history to be proudly preserved. People in Indian Village (and Palmer Woods) take this role very seriously and personal, and really believed in it as part of revitalizing Detroit as not just a city, but a culture.

So my dad was a Detroit native and I was raised there- I live in Chicago now. One of his favorite neighborhoods was Indian village and one of his favorite things to do on a sunny day was drive around the city and look at homes. We did it all the time. He passed in November 2022. These videos have brought me comfort- knowing he was alive when this was recorded and that he may have been just driving around the city doing exactly what I’m watching on that day. @@ChrisHarden Thanks. They do look similar. I had relatives that lived in Lafayette Towers back in the late 60s early 70s. My uncle used to toss water balloons by us kids from the 21st floor.

Did I see speed bumps on some of the streets in Indian Village?! Horrors! What a desecration to this historic and stately area. Just tragic…😮😮

Myself born and raised in DETROIT.....NOW LIVING IN NORFOLK,VA....AS OF 7/28/24....grew up on the westside in many HOODS....HIGHLAND PARK , THE NEW CENTER AREA, 8 MILE AND GREENFIELD AREA, PRE-ROSEDALE PARK, (GRAND RIVER AND MINOCK) AND JOY ROAD AND PIERSON. AND 6 MILE AND LOG CABIN. All those neighborhoods I named has very nice STREETS AND VERY BAD STREETS...THAT RUN PARALLEL to each other. Point being.....AS LONG AS YOU CAN AFFORD IT.....DETROIT (the inner city itself) besides downtown Has great places to live.

One thing about being native to Detroit....if you live on the EASTSIDE, YOU DONT GO TO THE WESTSIDE..AND VICE VERSA. ITS A TRIP.
