If you have intellectual property, email it to yourself. This time stamps your work. Put it in a file on your desktop and just wait to share it with others. All the legal mumbo jumbo is soon to change. Also dont think in terms of hiding things as that is fear based thinking. Instead look at it as the first draft that you may amend before you release it successfully. I am currently writing 4 books and frequently have folks out there with similar material. Its all Divine timing if you just put the intention of what you desire out there and then just run with your creative process. Watch how much better you create when you dont care who gets the credit. Pen names were created as a method to do just this.
