Great video and explanation. Why don’t you like the super dwarf? I wish we could get dwarf lady finger bananas, the kids absolutely destroy those! Do you think the dwarf bananas can fruit inside 100L pots if you do this method of removing suckers ?

I just like the dwarf as my personal preference, more that its just the perfect size tree for me and looks best that size in my garden more than anything else

@@qpl88 super dwarfs would be the ones to try in pots, they would probably do ok if you only let one plant grow

Nice looking nanas robbie, i dont really find it difficult to dig out the root ball of banana's personally, i just get a floor scaper, shovel and crowbar. Takes me an hour to dig out a couple of m^². I have a bit of room and prefer 5 to 6 fruiting stems as i pick more bunches that are smaller, so i can eat more of them fresh. I like dwarf namwahs(ducasse), but there are some excellent tall cultivars, pisang ceylon is divine, my favourite out of my 8 varieties.

I just think maintenance in general is easier just growing one plant, even when we move to our new place on about an acre im still going to grow my bananas in a raised bed and just one at a time, I don’t ever have to worry about them taking over an area and I can just keep it looking a lot neater to I think with 1 plant in each area, the thought of bananas taking over an area scares the hell out of me when I know I will have to eventually dig them all out

@@robbymillsfishing5290 fair enough, bananas are something I grow but don't really fertilse or spend much time on, I still get more than enough to eat and I spend my time and money on my 300 other fruit trees

So are you saying that after the tree produces, cut it all the way down?

Yes thats right as they will only ever produce one lot of fruit. But then also dig the roots out ,and plant a new banana tree there, one that you have previously taken off the one you are pulling out
