There are actually redwoods throughout most of southwestern Oregon. Loads of them inland here in and around Grants Pass, and have seen them further north than Roseburg.

There are actually Redwoods and Sequoias as far north as Portland, but they're not old growth. There's been a couple of court cases to protect them from development.

Some of the trees you referred to as redwoods in this video are actually douglas firs, very beautiful trees too though. Not hating or anything just letting you know. great video btw i really liked it, cinematography was top tier!

So beautiful! Redwoods never cease to amaze me. I know a Hemlock tree will spend many years as a smaller understory tree, until it has its place in the sun, then it takes off growing, do you think the redwoods do the same? Beautiful footage, thanks Tor! Oh, and I like your haircut, looks very nice!👍👍🌲🌲🌲🌲

Generally redwoods will grow shoot up when they are young and slow down the upwards growth as they age. However they always continue growing outwards, so the skinny trees are usually taller and younger, and the stout trees are generally larger and older. The reason for this is because as time goes on the top of the tree can be struck by lighting and fall off, break off in high winds, be snapped by a falling tree, or any combination of those factors. But the lower trunk continues growing outwards which adds more volume to the tree. This is why the largest redwoods are comparatively short to average in height and covered in burls, scars, crazy branches, weird bark patterns, etc

The Redwood cloud forests are so beautiful. The larger of the less exceptional trees are waiting for room in the canopy for their chance to become a giant. They all have it in them, but the canopy only has so much room.

Very definitely. :) Still boggles the mind that from a tiny seed (and such a small pine cone!) you can get those giants. There's a lesson in potential in there somewhere.

Thanks for showing this, they look different from the old growth here in Mendocino and Sonoma County

Coast redwoods cannot stand below freezing temperatures, so with global warming they should extend their range. We should plant them in Olympic National Park in Washington, or even on Vancouver Island, where giant sequoias are already growing.

they must be some what salt tolerant since they thrive in a coastal habitat
